Disney's SNOW WHITE Pushed to 2025; Dwarves Return!
Re: Disney's SNOW WHITE & HER SEVEN POLITICALLY CORRECT COMPANIONS
Really strange self-destructive behavior from Disney. First they claim the photos are "fake," then they backtrack and say the photos are indeed from their production, but not "official" set photos. The movie isn't even finished filming (I think) and they're already on the defensive. This will go down just like The Little Mermaid: they'll insult anyone who doesn't like the woke nature of the movie, the media will insist it's actually a masterpiece, it will open fine and then sink thus leaving half their potential profits on the table all because they can't make a movie that appeals to everyone. It will take a full scale revolt from the shareholders to keep the company from making any more stupid decisions.

Iger allegedly attempting to head off the certain box-office doom for this flop-in-waiting -- either by canceling the movie outright or sending it to Disney+
Apparently he was vetoed in both proposals by the board, which is going to be a mistake...

Re: Disney's SNOW WHITE & HER SEVEN POLITICALLY CORRECT COMPANIONS
Disney continuing to crank out these ghastly live-action (aka "75% CGI") remakes is like a broke gambler who continues to double down on bets, until he's ejected penniless from the casino at 3:00 in the morning, forced to walk five miles home because he has nothing left for a cab (or food, or rent...). If the Little Mermaid remake (the last of their 80s/90s "Renaissance" features they had yet to sh!t all over) couldn't make it to $600 million worldwide (HALF of what The Lion King did four years ago), then what chance does Snow Brown have?

Looks like the proposed live-action Hunchback Of Notre Dame remake has also been canned (and good riddance! ). Maybe Disney is finally learning not to keep throwing good money after bad.

I'm not sure I'd be giving them any credit for that, the stock took a tumble this week and Iger has to slash costs all over the place. A move of necessity and probably less some ideological shift, sadly. All the crap Marvel shows they've produced of late I'd guess are next on the chopping block.

Still, it's an encouraging sign that they know they're bleeding money, and WHY. If they can sh!tcan any planned remakes, dial back the Woke Dial, and start making original movies that the entire family can enjoy, then maybe they can arrest their creative and financial slump before they completely crater Walt's empire.

This is hilarious. Why even appear in this movie to begin with if you have such disdain for the source material?

She should play Dopey instead. Dumb and mute.

Hope Disney uses the strikes as an excuse not to throw good money after bad and just cancel this piece of sh!t.

Re: Disney's SNOW WHITE & HER SEVEN POLITICALLY CORRECT COMPANIONS
This girl is the absolute epitome of 21st century "celebrity" (which I use loosely since most normal people have no idea who she is). She says this stuff, doesn't like the backlash, then finds some way to continue to make it all about her, and turn herself into a victim (how many "death threats" has she actually gotten?), blaming anyone who understands English as "taking out of context" what she said.

I liked Zegler in West Side Story, but she's playing the "victim card" heavily here. Maybe if you didn't casually denigrate one of the greatest animated films of all time, people wouldn't (rightfully!) call you out on that.

Nothing to do with her acting ability. Entirely to do with her character and sense of entitlement. She needs handling from PR experts, at the least.

The majority of celebrities do these days, especially the younger ones who make absurd, broad-brush statements (like Jennifer Lawrence recently trying to make it sound like The Hunger Games had the first female action protagonist EVER )

Re: Disney's SNOW WHITE & HER SEVEN POLITICALLY CORRECT COMPANIONS
She grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey - just a few towns away from me right now. Bergen County pumps out some of the most entitled people in New Jersey, due to being one of the richest counties in the state (Corey Booker - the savior of Newark - ring a bell who grew up in an affluent Harrington Park not that far north of Hackensack). Although, I'll admit the town she grew up in doesn't call out "entitlement," it is the overall attitude that spills over from town to town. I see that trait in some family members that are around her age. It's something akin to the "Mean Girls" aesthetic but with a "Clueless" vibe, if I had to try to describe it. Using that as a baseline, add in Hollywood's socio-left culture, a lack of life experience, and little public speaking skills, and you have this behavior. It's curious to me that even during college - in a Communications track no less - there were no public speaking classes to take at the time in the mid-1980's. I had to learn that years later from one of my first corporate jobs at the parent company of Panasonic. Taking a public speaking course was, perhaps, the best skill and take away from that first job. What real opportunity did Zegler have at 20 years old to explore that? What can you possibly learn about real-life human interactions from an acting gig at that age? If you learn it from emulating someone else, who's to say that's right.AndyDursin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 5:13 pm Nothing to do with her acting ability. Also, I read so many inconsistent "BIO" entries for her that it's hard to get a real sense of what's true or not. A lot of entries say she's from "Clifton" where I grew up. Maybe she lived there for a spell, I don't know. They play up her "Colombian-American" heritage but leave out the part about having some "Polish" descent. It's all weird PR to me.
There are very few native New-Jersian "celebrities" that I like. And for some reason, she just rubs me the wrong way.
Indeed,

From her history Ed, she nearly sounds like the "acting version" of AOC!Edmund Kattak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 7:25 am

She clearly has an attitude that is, to be kind, unhelpful right now. It's one thing not to be versed in the art of PR but she mouths off like she's "unfiltered" (oooh, there's that word!) and isn't really thinking about the weight of what she's saying. The issue here is Disney has produced a remake of a classic property that she's out there saying is old, outdated, and is actively expressing disdain for.
So then, why would anyone who likes SNOW WHITE see this movie? Is she supposed to be XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS or something? I mean they've already made two MALIFCENT pieces of junk. "She don't need no prince no more!" is not exactly the tagline to draw people into theaters, which is going to make this another Disney product like DIAL OF DESTINY that's going to be DOA before it ever gets there.
