BARBIE Best Picture??

This is why it's a joke. As is the industry itself. I didn't even bother looking but Ryan Gosling got a nomination too? Seriously?!?!

Just so embarrassing. And Williams score isn't award worthy either. We all know it.

It's amazing how many people have pumped up a fluffy, disposable bit of toy IP synergy as a movie that Means Something, just because Greta Gerwig cashed a big paycheck to add "auteurist cred" to it. Be like thinking that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was worthy of a BP nomination because J.A. Bayona directed it (and he actually used that "One for them" clout to get his excellent Foreign Language nominee Society Of The Snow made).

They lost it all when they opened up the Best Picture field to 10 nominees for no other reason than a ploy to get the blockbusters a slew of nominations and try to pump up sagging viewership. That gutted whatever "rep" the Oscars once had. We've gone from AMADEUS to BARBIE in the space of 40 years...people who have won Oscars for playing world leaders are now in the same category as Ryan Gosling playing "Ken"....it's like living in a parody world.

The Hollywood Reporter's "senior editor for diversity and inclusion" has elevated navel-gazing to a science...

I agree the Dial of Destiny score is not Oscar-caliber, but I'd wager it's much better than the other scores nominated.
