Miami Vice 6/10

Run-of-the-mill. Colin Farrell is excellent IMO.

THE PRODIGAL

2/10

Too dull for enjoyable badness. The opening title music is the best thing about it, other than Lana Turner's body.

Wall E

10/10

Picture of the year or co-picture of the year alongside Dark Knight as far as I'm concerned.

THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE - 7.5/10 (B+)

Acting annoying the first half, film really captivating the second half. Lots of cliches but fun.

Wellman's "Wild Boys of the Road" (1933). Bleak, Pre-Code look at young people taking to the rails during the depression is still a startling, compact and involving tale; the ending, unfortunately, feels "tacked on." I like Frankie Darro's performance in this very much.

Wellman's film would be very interesting to remake today. . .

Hunt for Red October 4/5
No performances less than very good, good F/X, maintains interest throughout even though it could have been trimmed a little more.

I have to disagree with the prevailing popularity for this--GOD those falling snowflakes are annoying. But I bet I get used to them...wait, what were we talking about...?

I saw CLASS OF 1984 opening night.

Yes, I said it, and I'd say it again if I had to.

Mark Lester's a pretty dreadful director, though. The Van Patten guy was in those MST3K classics edited together from that show with Lee Van Cleef.
