Of all the abandoned "one and done" TV shows on DVD, this one has ticked me off the most, and now five years later patience rewarded at last.

That show is a classic! I'm not a fan of the original Dragnet, but the 60s series was great, because you had this whole psychedelic culture which was emerging, yet Joe Friday was still in the mindset of 1950.
I don't want to knock Jack Webb, who invested Dragnet with fundamentally good message...but you have to admit that Joe's run-ins with the hippies were often hilarious...

Shout just sent me a copy of the finished product and it's another superb release. The 2-hour pilot DRAGNET 1966 is on there, there's a booklet with liner notes, and a featurette on Webb.
Judging from the trailer for DRAGNET 1969 I think the wait won't be so long for Shout to release that one
On a side note I never bought DRAGNET 1967 and thought the price was outrageous on DDD...then I went on Amazon and Ebay and saw folks selling it brand new for $10. Picked myself up one!
