Eric Stoltz IS Marty McFly - BTTF Footage Finally Surfaces
...apparently there's more on the DVD/BD coming out later this month.
Even looking at a few clips here, and not hearing him speak, it's obvious how wrong Stoltz was. Marty was one of those roles ideally suited for Fox, can't see it working for almost anyone else -- and especially not Stoltz, who doesn't have much in the way of comedic skills (as Zemeckis points out).

Fascinating to see.
Going with Fox was definitely the right decision!

Heh, I'm reminded of a gag on an episode of Fringe last season (set in the show's "alternate" universe), where we see a couple of guys exiting a theater showing "Back To The Future starring Eric Stoltz!"

So, when do we get to see Harvey Keitel's scenes in Apocalypse Now?

Anyone got the boxset yet? Is it me or does the boxset look, well, crap. I wish these studios would just release them in the standard BD cases and be done with it all.

I hate the packaging for this set...it sucks. The Alien set I like, but I hate the BTTF set.

Don't have any on-hand, but suffice to say MJ the fears you have about ALIEN (which are unwarranted ultimately because of its design) ought to be confirmed by BACK TO THE FUTURE.
Here's a blog rant and a review saying how bad it is -- and it IS bad. One of the worst of all-time.

Unfortunately the same care that went into packing each disc with bonus features was not applied to the actual packaging. Universal has chosen the same plastic tray tri-fold case utilized on the latest season of The Office on Blu-ray. This case design stacks two discs on top of another with the upper disc snapping into place via a pair of prongs on either side. It takes bending of the case and considerable force on the top disc to get it out, so much so that there's a continual fear of breaking or smudging the disc each time. This nightmarish configuration is packaged under a relatively flimsy slipcover with a fold-open front panel.

I was planning on waiting for a price drop before buying the BTTF Blu-Rays anyways, but reading about the ghastly packaging cinches it. Hopefully Universal will come to their senses and re-package the set in a future pressing.
Again...sleeves, clips(!) and the like should be abolished from all DVD/Blu-Ray packages.

I wish they would just keep the standard BD cases and the slipcase. I know it's simple, but it works.
