Finally something that didn't flop
TRON had a very strong opening...on a weekend typically weak for box-office (right prior to Christmas)...it bodes well for the film over the holiday stretch.
On the other hand, HOW DO YOU KNOW -- an expensive James Bridges comedy that's been badly reviewed and stars the has-been cast of Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson (plus Paul Rudd) -- completely bombed. And it has a budget of $120 million. Good luck getting that back!

Re: Weekend Box Office 12/19 - TRON Opens #1
TRON was revised downwards to $43 million. Not quite as big as expected, though as was indicated, "Legacy appears to have sold about as many tickets in a single day as the original Tron did in its entire first weekend." So it's not all bad!
Overall though, looking at this list -- it's bad news for Hollywood across the board. How many of these films just are not bringing audiences in, it's amazing.

Looks like you weren't kidding.
Not looking good for that Narnia film at all. Got to be the end of it. I guess Disney knew what they were doing getting away from it.

Yeah the Narnia decline isn't bad, but it didn't open well so, I doubt they'll continue unless it really holds up internationally.
PRINCE CASPIAN just killed that entire series. Nobody liked it, anywhere in the world.
