Lol

I picked up the Studio Canal remaster of The Producers, which has a superior new 4K transfer than Shout's old MGM master.

StudioCanal will add to its Vintage Classics collection Anthony Asquith's film The Winslow Boy (1948), starring Robert Donat, Margaret Leighton, Cedric Hardwicke, Basil Radford, and Kathleen Harrison. The release will be available for purchase on February 3.

Synopsis: Directed by Anthony Asquith (The Browning Version) and adapted from the seminal play by Terence Rattigan (The Deep Blue Sea), The Winslow Boy is a classic tale of standing up to bureaucracy and one family's testing fight for justice.
The Winslow Boy follows the tribulations of an Edwardian naval cadet who is accused of the theft of a 5 shilling postal order, then expelled from his academy. On returning home his father becomes determined to clear his name and prove his innocence after what he considers an unfair internal inquiry. During his pursuit for justice the case eventually reaches The House Of Commons to cause public outcry and a political furor. A thoroughly British, searing drama about the conquest for truth and the sacrifices that come with it.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
NEWLY RESTORED
NEW George Arthur Shee and The case of the missing postal order
NEW Interview with cultural historian Matthew Sweet
NEW Interview with author and critic Geoffery Wansell
Optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature

StudioCanal will add to its vintage Classic Collection Robert Day's film The Green Man (1956), starring Alastair Sim, George Cole, Terry-Thomas, Jill Adams, and Raymond Huntley. The release will be available for purchase on May 18.

Synopsis: An irreverent black comedy adapted by Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat from their play, Meet a Body, The Green Man marked the directorial debut of camera operator Robert Day.

A scintillating Alastair Sim plays Hawkins, a timid watchmaker with a part time job - he is also a professional assassin who bumps off the people we love to hate. But when the philandering MP Sir Gregory Upshott (Raymond Huntley) is the intended target, vacuum cleaner salesman William Blake (George Cole) and Hawkins' new neighbour Ann Vincent (Jill Adams) repeatedly get in the way. As the time of the assassination draws ever closer and Hawkins tracks his victim to a dilapidated seaside hotel called the Green Man, the laughs and the tension steadily rise to a brilliant climax. An enormously entertaining farce that ticks all the genre's boxes (mistaken identities, compromising positions, much panicking and slamming of doors), the film makes an interesting companion piece to Ealing's The Ladykillers (1955).

Special Features and Technical Specs:
NEW RESTORATION OF THE FILM
NEW Alastair Sim and The Green Man: Interview Stephen Fry
NEW Interview with cultural historian Matthew Sweet
Those British Faces: Alastair Sim

Optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature
