And people still give anyone crap if they suggest a "free shipping" minimum. Considering the recent deaths of both Nick Redman and 20th Century Fox, it seems like this is the end of the line for the TT label, and if they really want to move out unsold stock, they should offer an incentive to do so, because that solitary "$15" Blu will be a ridiculous $22 after shipping. :? I just ordered five movies from Kino in their current "end of winter" sale (which totaled just over $50), and you know how much shipping and taxes I paid? ZERO.

I'm sure they'll price the titles that aren't selling and that have a ton of inventory on downwards. But, just from reading boards and discussion posts, there seem to be an awful lot of buyers waiting for "this" or "that" title to hit a certain price point, which is why the small incremental drops are wise on their end. And if you're only talking about a few dozen copies remaining, then they can afford to be patient.

In terms of the larger picture for TT, it's probably the end I'd imagine unless Brian really wants to keep it moving. But nobody is making big money on these releases anymore, so I can't say I'd blame him for hanging it up.

The real big problem for them was Disney buying Fox's library. That pipeline being shut down was sad, but even so, even that was coming to an end. A LOT of the TT titles in the final year were never going to be healthy sellers. Those 40s and 50s titles especially must be almost impossible to move -- if they ever have a "fire sale" it's likely to be those obscure, really old Fox catalog titles from the label's final months.

Though it's nice not to get dinged for taxes, at this point, you should be charged everywhere online for tax...that Kino doesn't do it is peculiar and probably has to do with them needing to overhaul their e-commerce architecture. It's not a choice they're making not to charge buyers -- it's actually the law.

I'm hesitant about making one or two final orders. We're basically down to some fence titles for me (all from the 40s-60s) but I also know that once they're gone the chances of them being in a physical format again are likely gone too. Overall I think there have been only a few TT titles that eventually got reissued ("The Bounty" and "Bell Book And Candle" come to mind). Because I will NEVER break from physical media as I start entering my own Twilight years it would be more an insurance policy at this point.

I'm all for sticking with physical media so long as it represents the best possible version of a film to watch, and since the bit-rate on disc is superior to streaming most of the time and the sound is also superior most of the time, I think Blu-Ray especially will become the film buff's choice as the years go on. For many of the TT releases there won't ever be another issue in physical form, especially when we're looking at anything from the pre-1970 era in particular...and those 40s and 50s titles, unless it's major and popular title with a marketable star, I think we can safely forget about seeing them again on disc. Then there comes the issue, for some of them, where you can even FIND them -- because goodness knows many of the lesser titles aren't even available to stream.

I think if you are on the fence it's probably best to just buy them. The best way to save is to order as many titles at once as you can afford -- seems like TT's own site charges a blanket $12 which may not be awful if you are ordering over a handful of discs at the same time.

Well I did a partial order for now and will wait another month or so before I do anything else since none of the stuff I'm on the fence about is down to the dangerously low column yet (and if they ever get rid of the last of those "Violent Saturday" DVDs I'll really be impressed!)

Dragonwyck (1946)
Whirlpool (1949)
Stagecoach (1966)
The Chairman (1968)

I picked up a few that I've been wanting for a while and which I think I will be unhappy to not get if they go OOP.

3 WORLDS OF GULLIVER
QUILLER MEMORANDUM
MEMBER OF THE WEDDING

Plus, UNTAMED.

I've bought quite a few TTs over the years, very few of which I have actually watched. This sale was in competition with the Kino Lorber sale, but I still bought TT. Crazy! What does this mean??

On the other hand, the breath of my movie collection amazes me.

Well as part of my need to do some entertainment shopping in these shut-in times, I have made my LAST TT order from Screen Archives. I can't picture being motivated to get any remaining titles.

Inferno
Black Widow (1954)
The Long Hot Summer
Morituri
Bananas
Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
The Barefoot Contessa

Four titles upgrade old DVDs so that was another impetus.

Happy Birthday! Today is my birthday also. I guess I should look through these titles to see what's left.

I just picked up MORITURI to replace my old DVD ad a couple of others. I ordered POLTERGEIST 2-CD set on Wednesday and they already shipped it out yesterday, so maybe they were open today.

Yeah, Eric, you could be right. I received POLTERGEIST this morning (early I might add), but no shipping confirmation on the blu-rays - so maybe they are shut down now.

MORITURI and the other discs arrived today after being shipped on Monday, while the FSM discs I ordered yesterday will be here tomorrow morning. Better shipping record than Amazon Prime - that I pay what, $120 per year now.
