British distributors Arrow Video have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Blu-ray release of Giulio Paradisi's The Visitor (1979), starring John Huston, Shelley Winters, Glenn Ford, Lance Henriksen, Franco Nero, Mel Ferrer, and Sam Peckinpah. The release will be available for purchase on October 6th.

You may think you've seen it all, but NOTHING can prepare you for The Visitor! The ultimate excursion into B-movie madness, this 1979 cinematic oddity from schlock producer extraordinaire Ovidio G. Assonitis, director of such deliciously guilty pleasures as Beyond the Door and Tentacles, brings together an extraordinary ensemble cast in a mind-bending tale of a girl and her pet hawk.

At first glance, Katy Collins is just like any other normal 8-year-old girl – but appearances can dangerously deceptive. As it turns out, Katy is the Earthly incarnation of an ancient evil by the name of Sateen – an intergalactic supernatural entity who was vanquished many light years ago. Katy possesses tremendous powers making her capable of great destruction – powers which some are keen to eradicate, and some to harness…

A veritable cult phenomenon thanks to its recent re-discovery, The Visitor combines stunning imagery, incredible set-pieces alongside a truly jaw-dropping cast list which includes John Huston, Mel Ferrer, Shelley Winters and Franco Nero appearing as Jesus!

Special Features:
•High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation of the feature, transferred from original film elements
• Original Mono audio (uncompressed PCM on the Blu-ray)
• Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
• Interview with Star Lance Henriksen
• Interview with Screenwriter Lou Comici
• Interview with Cinematographer Ennio Guarnieri
• Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Erik Buckman
• Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film and more!

No reason to import that one as its a basic reprise of the Draft house disc.

Still don't have my player (I called and was told "to be delivered today", but that's what they said yesterday), but am looking forward to all of these, especially The Fury, which is supposed to look wildly superior to the Twilight Time release.

Got my player today, although I'm having difficulty in getting a DTS/5.1 sound output. :?

What's the set up you are using?

A coaxial/PCM cable into my receiver. I've never really had to use it for anything since I got my PS3 (I've been using my old Blu player just for music CDs ever since, and using the coaxial cable for that). I've been fiddling around withy the various setting in the sound menu on the player, but I don't see a DTS picture or the 5.1 boxes lighting up on the front display of my receiver.

Is there a manual for the player? Does your receiver accept a different input than the coaxial?

It can be hard to diagnose but see if the players audio setting has a bit stream function.

Coaxial seems to be the only audio output source...now I'm not getting ANY sound. :x

That's weird. There's no optical out?

There's HDMI, coaxial and something called LAN on the back...nothing else.

I don't get it...my PS3 has two HDMI outputs on the back...one into the receiver, one into the TV. The player has one that goes into the receiver, and thus I get picture, but at first I was only getting basic 2.0 sound, and now I'm getting nothing. VERY frustrating.

Can you use the Hdmi for the audio too...is your receiver capable to handle it? If so there should be a bistream out option in the players menu.

Here's what I see in the audio menu:

DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT: auto/PCM

BD AUDIO MIX SETTING: off/on

DTS NEO: 6: off/music/cinema

AUDIO DRC: auto/on/off

DOWNMIX: surround/stereo

No matter what selections I make, I'm not getting any audio whatsoever.
