Elated to learn The Dove is finally getting a proper release...

Though maybe not a "classic", The Dove is nevertheless a wonderfully wholesome, and very underrated movie (with one of John Barry's most tuneful scores -- and that's saying a lot!).

Can they just take out the scene where he loses the cat overboard?!? Puts me off from wanting to see it again! I'll pick this up, between Barry, Raffin and the movie in widescreen, it should do the trick!

I read Graham is still alive and kicking -- and you can spend a night at his home in Montana for $650!
He is still married to the adventurous girl, Patty, that he met during his journey. They have two kids and three grandkids. A quick search at the AirBnB website shows they rent out their 5-bedroom Flathead Lake, Mon., house for $650 a night — and my favorite part is the small bedroom with the Pottery Barn boat bed.

Apparently that scene was invented for the movie -- never happened in real life.

Can these Network BDs be ordered thru Amazon UK? Or only direct from Network?

Network releases aren't exclusives, so Amazon UK does have them. However their shipping options START at 13 GBP for a single disc at this moment, which is more expensive than the Network discs themselves! It'll be more feasible either ordering from Network direct or wait until Rarewaves -- or another Ebay seller -- gets stock (my advice!).

That's currently my plan on imports right now -- Ebay (or if it's an Aussie release, Deepdiscount) -- until the European Amazons bring back the cheap surface routes.

I got a message from Network about The Dove. It seems there will be extras, although they didn't specify. They did say it would be limited.

This might interest Paul. I'll probably order mine. There are some interesting titles at the moment. I did pick up some titles in their January sale.

Based on the novels by Robert Louis Stevenson and directed by Oscar-winning Delbert Mann, this epic, star-studded adventure sees Michael Caine in the role of a Jacobite rebel who befriends an orphan fleeing a life of slavery. A strong drama with a moving score from Roy Budd (and end theme sung by folk legend Mary Hopkin), Kidnapped co-stars Jack Hawkins, Donald Pleasence, Trevor Howard and Gordon Jackson. It is featured here as a brand-new High Definition restoration from original film materials in its original Panavision aspect ratio.

1746: as defeated Jacobite rebels flee government forces in the aftermath of the battle at Culloden, eighteen-year-old orphan David Balfour's attempt to claim his inheritance results in his incarceration on a slaver ship heading for the West Indies. Luckily for David the ship's captain runs afoul of Alan Breck, and both Breck and David make their bloody escape.

Went ahead and preordered THE DOVE and TEN LITTLE INDIANS from Network, plus 3 other titles on sale. The Blu-Ray list is here:

https://networkonair.com/2-home?format= ... .price.asc

Total was 40 GBP plus a single 6.70 GBP shipping fee for 5 discs -- I'd say this is clearly the way to go. Amazon UK will be much more expensive.

Here's one I threw in -- acclaimed 1987 WWII internment camp TV-movie with Rutger Hauer and Alan Arkin, scored by Georges Delerue:

I ordered six titles in the January sale, shipping was $10.77. I'd rather get the titles from network, compared to Amazon UK. In some cases, the shipping is more than the items you pay for. Some of the other companies I have dealt with in the past, such as Base.com, no longer ship outside the UK and Europe. Companies like Zoom.co.uk, I would like to deal with, but they refuse to ship to the US. At least I still have Zaavi UK.

Amazon won't ship anything internationally right now unless its going Air Mail. The cheap surface methods we used to have available aren't available and/or are so unreliable with delays that they won't use them. Its not just Amazon either, a lot of overseas vendors are doing the same. Or as John said they are not shipping internationally at all.

Its great Network is still using the usual way, the downside is it could take weeks...or months. I just had a package from Germany get here, mailed on November 10th. I also got a refund on a German package mailed in mid November which never arrived at all. I've had other packages take about 2 months also which did show up.

Then again I also had a 1st Class package from NY arrive this weekend, mailed on December 10!

Things might be better now than Christmas is over but who knows. I think the issue is the only reliable way to do international mail right now is expedited Air/Priority and its much more expensive, but its the only method a lot of vendors shipping internationally feel comfortable with at the moment. Hopefully that will change back at some point

First batch of Network titles came in pretty quickly -- PERFECT FRIDAY was cheap and interestingly it has an alternate score track with no credited composer on it. But it's a LOT more listenable -- and classical -- than the painfully "jaunty," intentionally "comic" and very dated score John Dankworth wrote for the (released?) movie.

I wonder where it came from...can't find anyone who seems to know. Flipping between the two main title tracks was reason enough to pay the 6GBP!
