The article says it will be going wide, but I wonder how much of that is going to depend on how good the film is. I can see them scaling back those plans if it's any kind of disappointment.

Sounds like Scorsese knew he was making something for Netflix and it's probably going to play just as well at home anyway. There's no way the movie would have ever run that long if it was intended strictly for theatrical playback. He would've had to cut a half hour out of it at least.

After seeing the awkward de-aging FX in IT CHAPTER TWO, I'm even more worried this is going to be a major distraction -- especially since there's supposedly a lot of it.

The strange thing is it's not just the wrinkle lines -- it does odd things to the shape of faces and how it looks on the body too.

Especially odd as De Niro won his first Oscar playing a younger version of Marlon Brando in Godfather II. Would that film have been better had this technology existed in 1974 and Brando had played his younger self? Whatever happened to just hiring a talented younger actor to play a character in flashbacks? It would have been cheaper and more convincing. I'm sure there are dozens of actors who would have leapt at the opportunity/challenge to play a young De Niro, Pesci or Pacino.

It's like that crappy, pre-Benjamin Button de-aging tech used on Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in X-Men: The Last Stand. Yeah, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender weren't exactly visual ringers for them in the subsequent prequels, but after a few minutes' worth of acclimation, you just didn't care.

Just wish Anna Paquin wasn't in this. I absolutely can't stand her on this last season of THE AFFAIR.
