A great and unique performer, and one who -- despite a distinctive and consistent look and style -- never seemed like the same person from role to role. I always saw the character he was playing, never the actor.

He had the single funniest line in The Green Mile..."I want chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy on the taters...I wanna [poop] in yer hat...and I want Mae West to sit on my face, because I am one horny mother[expletive]!"
