Extremely familiar plot given a new workover in this slick-looking Jennifer Lawrence film, due out in March:

Now, how about that long-overdue solo Black Widow movie, Disney? :x

Looks perfectly crafted to technical perfection...but I get no emotional resonance from the trailer.

Also, Jennifer Lawrence is an unimpeachably great actress, and a beautiful woman. But she doesn't come off as "sexy" in any of the erotic scenes.

Maybe the film will be better, but the trailer looks contrived and stilted.

No interest in this - not a fan of Jennifer Lawrence at all. I feel she is extremely overrated and tries too hard.

8.5/10

Dammit, I had a blast with this, kind of a mix of vintage John Frankenheimer espionage thriller with a light glaze of Paul Verhoeven-esque Eurotrash kink. No wonder it's tanking at the box office...these kinds of complex, uncompromisingly R-rated thrillers aimed at an adult audience haven't made money since the 90's. :( It's a beautifully-crafted, well-acted film, though, and James Newton Howard's fine score is icing on the cake. Slick, engrossing and underrated.
