Network DVD Goes into Liquidation

News is circulating that Network DVD has gone into liquidation. If this true, it's a sad day for collectors of classic British film and tv productions. I had a few items I was looking into, so hopefully I can get them from other outlets before they go.

Terrible unfortunately and the website being down means it could be a fast exit indeed. I have a number of Network discs and you're right John folks would be wise to snap up what you don't have immediately before the bottom drops out.

They had unique products which were well produced.

Just ordered the one recentish title I had been meaning to, Elizabeth Taylor in London/Sophia Loren in Rome. Rarewaves still has copies on their site and also on Ebay though it's a little pricier on the latter.

Amzon.co.uk still has the Monty Python box set for 95 quid. I just grabbed one!

I've been filling some holes in my Network collection by buying from rarewaves.com and chalkys.com.

Mainly the ITV television series I never got around to picking up including Randall and Hopkirk, plus Stingray and Joe 90.

Sad to see Network go.

I'm surprised about Python, the USA version was routinely on sale, and was down to $55 at Amazon just as recently as a year ago. Doesn't seem to make much sense, being distributed by Universal, that it went (or currently is) out of print. Maybe they just need to do another pressing of it.

The Network version I bought was the awesome limited deluxe set with Andrew Pixley's fantastic, thoroughly researched notes that accompanied each season. It did cost 96 GBP -- but it was worth it. I nearly canceled my preorder at the time!

Was there also a "US version" released by Network release intended for American distribution?

There were basically 2 releases:

1) The limited edition box-set Network UK produced and shipped worldwide (there was only one release of it)
2) The non-limited "disc only" green cover release Network UK produced for Europe, which Universal also distributed in the USA, which looked like this:





The original limited box-set was only produced in the UK by Network and they handled all worldwide shipping. It's worth noting for North America, they did manufacture their own set of "NTSC friendly" (or however you want to call it) discs which you received if you ordered from here:

Two versions of this Blu-ray release have been created: 1080i60 (59.94i) for NTSC countries and 1080i50 for PAL. If you order from direct from Network, you’ll be sent the appropriate version for your region based on your mailing address. If you purchase from Amazon US you’ll get 60i, likewise Amazon UK customers will get the 50i.

I'd expect the USA Universal release ALSO had the 1080i60 frame rate version since it was meant for NTSC consumers.

Yes! That's what they called the limited edition box with the books (it was a joke)

Hopefully they cancel if it hasn't shipped!!
