Re: rate the last movie you saw

I have started this movie 7 times now, 3 times from the beginning, the rest from where I last remember. I keep falling asleep!! This has to be the dullest movie I have ever seen! Mike, have you seen Amistad? I think that is one of Spielberg's best films, and deals with slavery in a much more effect...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Lincoln Eh... Not a bad movie by any means. Some fine performances, from Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field in particular, but also Joseph Gorden Levitt, Hal Holbrook, David Strathearn and Tommy Lee Jones. But, it's not an especially good movie either. For me it just had an emotional flatline. It's a...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

1 out of 5 We did not see it in the movie theater, but my son wanted to watch DREDD, so we rented it! Terrible movie, absolutely the worst film score I have heard since SOCIAL NETWORK. Evidently it was released in 3D to theaters, which some of the scenes would have been interesting to see in 3D, but...

I'm honestly in no hurry to see it myself.
I can wait for the 3 movie DVD set.

Re: Weekend Box Office - HUNGER GAMES On Pace for $130 Milli

I had no interest in TWILIGHT but the premise of THE HUNGER GAMES (Running Man for teens?) seems more interesting...plus I love Jennifer Lawrence...and this seems to be getting much better reviews than any of the Twilight flicks. I knew nothing about the books, but my kids and wife wanted to see th...

Re: JESUS OF NAZARETH on Blu-Ray (Germany)

I'll probably spring for this one. I loaned my Jesus of Nazareth DVD to someone three year ago...and still haven't gotten it back. I hope you no longer loan to that person! One of my daughters loaned 2 DVDs to a friends and did not tell me about it until I wanted to watch one of them and cou...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

There seems to be a lot of noise in film scores these days. I have listened to what I can of HANNA and I agree with you Paul. Social Network is another one that I do not care for, but I have not seen how it effects the movie and I probably never will! Now, you and Andy liked TRON : LEGACY, which I h...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I liked John Powell's score but didn't think it was great. Too "Zimmer" for me. I actually think Powell is the least "Zimmer-esque" composer to graduate from the Media Ventures sausage factory. He's the only one who realizes the importance of counterpoint and melody. I've never ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

How To Train Your Dragon . A terrific, fun adventure, half-fantasy and half-misunderstood animal story, with lots of thrills and genuinely touching moments. Beautifully rendered as well (Roger Deakins was "Visual Consultant"). John Powell's score was also good, though not great (James Hor...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I am sorry, I did not go back and read the previous posts before. I just saw the thread and decided to post my disappointment over the movie. I will be checking out movies in the future here before a purchase is made. Quite a few people have told us it was a great movie, but I should have known when...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

What am I missing in Inception ? It was so highly recommended by so many, so we picked up the DVD (it was highly reduced Blu-ray DVD set, which I actually thought it was mis-marked at $12.99!!). But, I have tried to watch it 2 times now and both times, I feel asleep at about the same spot. It probab...

Could be a pressing/authoring issue on the disc. The easiest way to prove that is just test some other DVDs and see if you see anything like that. If you don't, then it's clearly a defective disc. It is not the DVD player, I have tried it on 4 different DVD players and it does the same thing. There...

Pauses on the Get Smart DVD?

I did not see the movie in the theater, since I heard it was terrible, which it is, but my wife wanted the DVD. We bought the regular (do not have or can afford the Blu-ray yet!), widescreen, with bonus scenes delivers 62% more "laughs" version. Well, you can view the movie the way it was ...
