Re: Gerry Anderson's UFO: The Complete Series Blu-ray

Must buy for me, although region coding and price will be a factor.

Also nice to see it is 7 disks, equivalent to the Japanese release (the German set is only 6).

Is the seventh disk only extras?

Re: The Neptune Factor Blu-ray

I'm happy to see that they have retained the isolated score by William McCauley, who was a decent Canadian film composer. I played his LP for the CBC TV series Riel a lot when I was growing up. :) It's a pity none of his stuff is on CD. Matthew McCauley, who did a lot of TV work including Andromeda ...

Re: Gene Wilder, RIP

I just heard about this. :( The first film I ever saw in a cinema was THE WORLD'S GREATEST LOVER. I was dumped off by my older brothers after trying to get into CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, which was sold out. So I'm sorry to hear of Mr Wilder's death. He's a bit special because of that. Thes...

Twilight Time sale - 7 for $70

Have to admire the creativity used to try to force feed product down our throats. :D Very little of it is appealing to me. Only really Cover Girl and I have that one. A surprising number of duds in there, IMO. IT’S A TWILIGHT TIME PACKAGE STEAL! Buy seven of any of the following Twilight Time titles...

Mother (2009) 8/10 Another interesting and rather weird South Korean film. A school girl is murdered and a simple-minded man is charged with the crime. An open and shut case for the police as it is ridiculously easy to get a confession out of the man and evidence does point to him having committed ...

Re: THE ROCKETEER to fly again...?!

I'm waiting for the remake of Deliverance, in which four black feminist professors canoe down a wild river in Georgia, and are traumatized when they encounter the "white privilege" of the local hillbillies. This reminds me of my days reading Fantasy and Science fiction. When I was young, ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I like Benjamin Wallfisch's music, although he lacks the incisiveness of a really great composer. One of his that I like is Summer in February . One track that impressed me, called The Storm, is actually old fashioned "storm music", which just isn't done anymore. Unfortunately, I couldn't ...

Re: GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) Thread

To counter some of the negativity on this thread (if that's possible :)).

My sister-in-law and nephew saw Ghostbusters last weekend and they both agreed that it was a good summer popcorn movie.

Nothing more, nothing less.

There you have it.

EVA (2011) 7/10 Set in the near future, a cyberneticist goes home to do some work for his alma mater only to find things more difficult than he thought when trying to model a robot on his niece, a girl named Eva. This Spanish film may have too slight a plot and not enough gravitas to achieve all its...

Re: John Williams AFI Tribute -- And Some Surprising Comment

My optimism comes from listening to composers like Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible), Johan Soderqvist (Let The Right One In) and a bunch of other mainly European composers. There are good composers out there. Check out the composers on Movie Score Media and tell me that there aren't good contempo...

Its OK guys ... good film music is out of fashion just now. That's Hollywood.

Relax - It'll be back in fashion soon enough. 8)

Re: Twilight Time Sale - Titles $10 Off

TT blu-rays are on sale more than they are off sale! At what point do they damage their sale-ability? (As La La Land did when they were regularly, significantly discounting their CDs after 6 months. Everyone just waited for the sale.) I will definitely pick up Lilies in the Field and Support Your Lo...
