Re: Aussie Order

Looks interesting, John! :D

I've added it to my list.

Oh, and talking about pleasant truly Australian entertainment, I watched this one a while ago.

Re: Aussie Order

Some interesting ideas there - including the McHale movies, which I vaguely remember. Not sure if The Nude Bomb is worthwhile - I saw it on DVD and wasn't impressed. The later TV movie Get Smart, Again! was much more in keeping with the original series. I may pick up The Ghost and Mrs Muir TV series...

Aussie Order

Hi, I've decided to pick up Journey to the Far Side of the Sun for $20AUS from JB HiFi Austrailia. IIRC it was $35 not long ago. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on-sale/sci-fi/journey-to-the-far-side-of-the-sun-special-edition/725745/ Any other recommendations of stuff not ...

Re: STAR WARS ROGUE ONE - In Trouble?

I don't know; I kinda like that trailer. Lots going on, decent effects, "Star Wars", cute British girl, Forest Whitaker ...

Not that I've seen any of this stuff. Marvel universe? DC universe? Force Awakens? Naw! :)

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

I've been binge watching a South Korean show called You Who Came from the Stars (aka My Love from Another Star ). I guess you could say that it is about an alien who has superhero-like powers but who decides it's better to hide them than use them. (Us ungrateful mere-mortals are always trying to lyn...

Re: Arrow Video Releases Announced for Canada

Yay! :)

Good news for us Canadian blu-ray buyers, although I don't have much interest in many of their releases.

Love the Unobstructed View Fearless Leader job title BTW.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

April Snow (2005) 8/10 I continue watching my films by South Korean director Heo Jin-Ho. This is a very subdued movie about two people who meet at the hospital where both their spouses are in comas, due to a deadly car accident. They quickly realize that their spouses have been cheating on them and...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

JSA Joint Security Area is a South Korean film set on the border between North and South Korea. It was made in 2000, but it's politics don't seem to have dated and the setting is just fascinating. The plot is simple enough: an incident resulting in the death of some soldiers has taken place in the ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Happiness (2007) 8/10 As a Su-jeong Lim fan I had to watch her in this film, the first of 4 South Korean films I have received in a collection of films by director Jin-Ho Hur. If you like escapist films, then this film isn't for you. It's about the doomed relationship between an alcoholic womanizer...

You're second one recommending Departures: it's cheap and I'll have to pick it up!

I can recommend Memories of Matsuko, if you haven't already seen it. :)

Re: Hans Zimmer: "Retiring" from Super-Hero Movies

I would say though, in either way, in many cases, these films are also not making an impact beyond their local markets for the most part. What was the last Japanese movie anybody cared about in North America? I can't even begin to remember the last Japanese import that really made a blip on the rad...

Re: Hans Zimmer: "Retiring" from Super-Hero Movies

The problem is that the movie world of 2016 is very different than the mid '70s. Nobody is taking chances anymore. Nearly everything in big, mainstream fare is "prefab" tentpole/remake/sequel/reboot whatever.... I disagree with what you are saying in that this is a totally American-centri...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Terribly bored with American film, I'm watching a lot of South Korean films these days. Miss Granny 9/10 yaFYsINXFBE A comedy/drama/musical/romance which is sort of a reverse-tooled Big with winning performances from everyone involved. It touches all the bases and isn't too hard to follow with subti...

Oh the humanity? Truly grade Z sci-fi. I saw this in the cinema in the day, thinking it was a remake of Things to Come . Nope  I remember it to this day, for it's only redeeming feature: the very cute Eddie Benton (who now goes by the name Anne-Marie Martin). http://pics.wikifeet.com/Anne-Mar...

Re: INDIANA JONES 5 - Ford, Spielberg, 2019

I could see it work as a Harrison Ford Indy telling stories around a campfire to his grand kids "Back in my day...", introducing the new younger Indy in flashbacks.

:? Then again, we are talking Hollywood here.
