Re: WONDER WOMAN 1984 - Delayed to Christmas

WB premiering their 2020 roster of movies on HBO Max is a good way to hide alot of gigantic bombs from shareholders. A peak at this list suggests, pandemic or not, many of these films would have crashed and burned.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Tim Lucas and (especially) Tom Weaver do an outstanding job on commentary tracks, however, my favorite might be Gregory W. Mank. Full disclosure: Lucas and Weaver are friends.

If he is the historian who did the commentary for Murder by Death---don't waste your time.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I don't think I have really liked a Nolan movie since his first stab at Batman (which I thought was terrific). He and David Fincher (whose films I prefer over Nolan's) are frequently compared to Kubrick. In their dreams.

The question to YOU, Andy Dursin. Is Tenet worse than Dunkirk?

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I caught that too! :D There were a couple of other minor anachronisms scattered throughout, which struck me at the time, but I can't recall at the moment (I'm still on my first cup of coffee). On further reflection, I liked Amanda Seyfried's performance as Marian Davies and Arlis Howard was an inter...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Mank (4/10)

Even Gary Oldman (who sounds alot like Lionel Barrymore here) can't save this dull, pretentious mess. If Herman Mankowitz was this boring in real life, I can't imagine why he got invited to so many parties at San Simeon. Terrible script by director David Fincher's late father.

Re: Warner Bros. to Debut EVERY 2021 Theatrical Movie Simultaneously on HBO Max

HBO Max needs all the help it can get. The brain cells behind it need to be gone. If you can't make a success of your streaming service during a pandemic, you will never make a success of your streaming service.

Re: rate the last movie you saw

I've seen some good stuff on Netflix (The Ballad of Buster Skruggs was exceptional), but not enough to justify paying for it on a monthly basis (speaking strictly for myself, not trying to change minds). Most of their programming is new stuff, or stuff meant to appeal to audiences younger than me (I...

If my wife and daughter didn't want Netflix, I'd cancel it. Too much woke junk.

Re: COMING 2 AMERICA Sold to Amazon for $125 Million

The main reason I think Amazon made a stupid move is price. I don't think many people who don't already have Amazon Prime, will be lured in to joining Amazon Prime at $125 a year to see a sequel to a 32 year old movie. I have not been overly impressed with Netflix's original movies (with the excepti...

Re: COMING 2 AMERICA Sold to Amazon for $125 Million

Good move by Paramount, bad move by Amazon. I suppose Amazon has so much money, like Netflix, they can afford to piss it away. Like everything in business/life, in time this will change.

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: WB Moves BATMAN to 2022 and Everything Else Back

MJ, things will get better! Movie theaters will be back, no one is going to leave money blowing in the wind. It's funny, it's cheaper ( and many times better) eating at home; but those pesky restaurants keep sticking around. When this stupid virus is either gone, or people say the hell with it, folk...
