My daughter and I already have our tickets for a Sunday afternoon double feature, The Exorcist and Beetlejuice.

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: Back to the Multiplex

I still enjoy going to the movies (unfortunately I don't enjoy most of the actual movies). One of our chains (Marcus Theaters) is still family owned and are showing the usual retro stuff (Jaws, Jurassic Park) and we are planning on seeing several, despite being old hat, just to support the cause--ev...

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: Back to the Multiplex

The studios encouraged the theaters to open. I understand why the same studios don't want to piss away expensive product in this market after the failure of Tenet. So, I think a short term solution to help out their exhibition partners would be significantly discounted rates for older films. It's Ha...

Murder by Death has one of the all-time bad audio commentaries.

Re: DUNE - WB/Legendary/Villeneuve - Trailer

I'm cautiously optimistic, at least Dune doesn't look like a superhero movie.

Re: TENET A "Humorless," "Palindromic Dud", Even After 45 Minutes are Cut

My daughter saw Tenet today. I dropped her off, I couldn't work up any enthusiasm to sit through it. She liked it, but said it was really loud and she couldn't make out much of the dialogue. :D

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: Back to the Multiplex

My daughter and I were going to see Tenet Tueday, but after reading several reviews (including positive reviews) I couldn't summon enough enthusiasm to sit through almost three hours of Nolan. Everything I have read about Tenet's negatives (loud tuneless music, muddled, incomprehensible dialogue, ex...

Re: Woke Movie Critics Decry Theater Reopenings

My daughter and I braved Covid-19 to see The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on the big(ish) screen. It was a blast and pretty darn safe, as we were the only ones in the theater.

Re: Lib Movie Critics Decry Theater Reopenings

I'm rather at a loss with COVID-19. The mortality rate is between 2-4%. I would bet the author of the article routinely engages in behavior with worse odds. Be that as it may, I get that people are scared, but I don't have the intention of hiding in my house for the next year and a half.

Re: THE BATMAN - June 2021 - Trailer

The preview looks better than I would have expected and I wasn't expecting much. I always liked Jeffrey Wright and the kid from the vampire movie seems to have grown up into a pretty big guy. I didn't recognize any of the other "stars" or characters.
