Re: rate the last movie you saw
When I saw ST:TMP in 1979, I hated it. A buddy and I saw it theatrically last year for it's 40th anniversary and compared to today's junk, ST:TMP has become surprisingly watchable.

Re: FLASH GORDON 4K UHD/Blu-Ray Restorations Coming in the USA from Arrow!
Kate Ellinger's essay stinks, but the worst of a sorry lot is by a guy named John-Paul Checkett, PhD--psychologist by day, crummy writer by night.

Re: FLASH GORDON 4K UHD/Blu-Ray Restorations Coming in the USA from Arrow!
The booklet in the Arrow release contains 4 or 5 awful essays concerning Flash Gordon. However, the addition the documentary Life After Flash makes the Limited Edition worth the extra few bucks. Life After Flash is a moving look at a flawed man and his late in life redemption. I would unhesitatingly...

Andy, I recall a few months ago, you made the same argument against Toy Story 4 when it grossed $125 million in its opening weekend and basically doubled that in the first week.

Re: Weekend Box Office 9/7 - IT Tops, But No Record Breaker
Wow, It debuts with 30% less than it’s predecessor! I suspect word of mouth will not help this installment and predict a much larger than usual 50+% drop off next weekend. Fortunately, for WB, it doesn’t look like they spent a fortune to produce it (I thought it looked remarkably shoddy in parts) so...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
When I saw Dumbo, I found it bla. But, after seeing Aladdin and The Lion King it’s starting to look pretty good. 😀 All three movies are pretty dire and not a patch on the originals. Looking for anything in the positive column: Dumbo looks good, especially the Pink Elephant sequence; Aladdin’s leads ...

Re: Weekend Box Office 6/30 - Same Old Song
I’m betting Lion King will be behind Avengers, Toy Story third and Spider-man fourth. The Fast and Furious might be big or tumble like many others this summer. However, in my opinion anything making between 400-500 domestic can’t be considered a disappointment in any rational sense (unless it cost m...

Re: Weekend Box Office 6/30 - Same Old Song
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Toy Story 4 doubled it’s opening weekend gross by Sunday. In other words, it “under performed” last weekend with a $118 million debut weekend, but it’s now sitting at $236 million. So a huge part of it’s earnings are coming in during the week, which should not be too sur...

Re: Weekend Box Office 6/23 - TOY STORY 4 Won't Be Breaking Any Records
Please correct me if I am wrong, but the only two “summer” releases, so far, to beat or meet expectations have been John Wick 3 and Aladdin. As one is a sequel and the other is a remake/reimagining, I think it’s safe to say you can’t predict what the hell the public wants.

Re: "Shining" Sequel DOCTOR SLEEP - November - Trailer
I read the book and was not impressed.
However, I find it amusing that in spite of King’s dislike of Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, Doctor Sleep’s trailer uses so much footage from the 1980 film.

Re: HOT ZONE - The "Great Unmade" Ridley Scott Thriller - Finally Reaches The Screen
I read and enjoyed the book when it came out in 1994, so I was really looking forward to this limited series. The first two episodes were OK, episodes three and four dropped off in quality and the final two episodes reminded me why I usually skip “movies” on The National Geographic Channel.

Very interesting.
I think replacing 2-5,000 years of tradition with...Stan Lee (aplologies to Stan Lee) is mind boggling.
