Re: BOND 25 - Boyle Exits Over Craig's "Ridiculous" Insistence That Bond DIES
The thing is, I don’t think anyone (statistically speaking) is asking for anything different. The problem today is so many want KFC to serve hamburgers—because by doing so it will correct past sins. Whether the customer wants it or not.

Re: BOND 25 - Boyle Exits Over Craig's "Ridiculous" Insistence That Bond DIES
I call “ Bullshit.” This sounds like a dopey rumor. Cubby’s daughter might be dumb enough to kill off Bond, but I can’t picture a a shrewd lawyer like Wilson gambling on the golden goose in such a stupid manner.

Re: BOND 25 Danny Boyle Exits Over "Creative Differences"
I really liked Casino Royale the first time I saw it, but upon revisiting it, I find it too similar to the Bourne movies and others of its time. In the past, Bond influenced other movies, not vice/versa. My main problem with Craig is, he always acts like he has a lump of coal up his ass. Bond doesn’...

Re: BOND 25 Danny Boyle Exits Over "Creative Differences"
I suspect Craig should have hung it up after Specter. I think the primary reason he is still around is Eon/MGM were partnering with a new studio and Craig was an established moneymaker as Bond. Now that the negotiations are over they will crank out one more with Craig and start afresh with a new dea...

Crazy Rich Asians
Leonard Marlin says there is a lot riding on Crazy Rich Asians. Why? If it’s good, it’s good. If it stinks, it stinks. Why should a light romantic comedy have so much on the line? Identity politics is ridiculous. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Alpha this weekend. It’s the first stone-age ...

Re: Oscars to add "POPULAR MOVIE" Category
The Oscars lost whatever credibility they had with me when Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture.
Do yourself a favor and spend the 3-4 hours you would normally spend watching the Oscars reading, playing with your kid or staring at the wall.

Re: James Gunn Axed From GUARDIANS Franchise After Gross Twitter Comments Surface
I think Gunn sounds like a f*****g idiot. It’s not even a case of an idiot making an occasional ass out himself, but a pathological case of idiocy. I think this is the same guy who suggested nutty Star Wars fans seek counseling (not that I disagree in that case), which is ironic because Gunn seems l...

Re: James Gunn Axed From GUARDIANS Franchise After Gross Twitter Comments Surface
A friend asked me today if I felt Gunn deserved to get canned. I said, if we could roll back all the other firings of for stupidity no, he shouldn’t be fired. But, since this particular genie is out of the bottle—especially at Disney—he’s gotta go. I think there is a big difference between Harvey We...

Re: James Gunn Axed From GUARDIANS Franchise After Gross Twitter Comments Surface
I’m sure Gunn is reconsidering his notions of stupidity and inequality at this time.
Old George Orwell was right, and I paraphrase, Some of us are more equal than others.

Except, it won’t be Brett Ratner, he’s in the doghouse for his “ME Too” moment, along with his X-Men predecessor Bryan Singer.

Re: JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM - June 22nd - Trouble Outside The Park
Pretty much on the nose Andy, FK is the best of the series since the original—I know that is not saying much. I think the key to this entry working for me, other than basic competence, was that it didn’t seem to take all the malarkey in the screenplay too seriously. The plot is so absurd, that if th...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
I had the same reaction the first time I saw “No Country.” I then read the book and all the same problems you explained appeared there as well. All I can say is the film is a very close adaptation of the book—for better or worse. It’s not one of my favorite Coen Brothers (the most consistently impre...

Re: Weekend Box Office 6-17 - INCREDIBLES Big
As a Disney stockholder, I will not be happy if any corporate funds were used to artificially inflate gross earnings for the aggrandizement of any filmmakers or executives.

Re: Weekend Box Office 6-17 - INCREDIBLES Big
From Box Office Mojo:
“Outside the top ten, we'll begin with Disney's successful push to get A Wrinkle in Time to the century mark as the film brought in an estimated $1.77 million from 245 locations for a domestic cume that now totals $100 million.”

Re: Weekend Box Office 6-17 - INCREDIBLES Big
Despite its availability on Streaming, On-Demand, DVD and Blu-ray, A Wrinkle in Time increased 2,000% between Thursday and Friday and has now crossed $100,000,000. At risk of committing a macro-aggression, I’m calling bullshit.
