Saw a clip Cruise showed with Leno tonight on the TONIGHT SHOW. In it, Cruise, Fanning, and some other guy are in the cellar hearing noises from up above and seeing weird lights. Funny I seemed to like this scene better when it was in SIGNS a few years ago :( Even the staging seemed identical! I rea...

Any ideas if the actual, original Trilogy (IV-VI) cuts will be one of the options?

At this point I wouldn't rule anything out...though I agree it's wishful thinking :)

The End of MGM

...we knew AMITYVILLE HORROR would be the last MGM theatrical release, and now the plug has been pulled on every MGM DVD (up until the middle of July). I've received in the last few days a group of PR announcements for various MGM DVDs (including my eagerly-awaited PINK PANTHER CARTOON COLLECTION), ...

Lindsay Lohan is morphing into another coke-addicted bottle-blonde like every other aspiring actress/singer under the age of 21. I liked her in MEAN GIRLS but HERBIE GOES TO HELL or whatever this new movie is called -- well, you'll have to pay me to see it! (or at least send me a review copy on DVD,...

Interesting John. I'll have to pick it up (though I always feel slightly skittish about going into the closest Walmart, which we affectionately call Ghetto-Mart here!).

I never even made that connection. Man, Physical Evidence was a HORRIBLE film HORRIBLE but kind of fun (for all the wrong reasons) :) If you look, it has the same producer, and I believe the Theresa Russell character was supposed to be Glenn Close. They just changed the character names around and s...

I'm not as convinced as you are Eric. Schifrin is not exactly renowned for his work in this genre -- actually, has he EVER scored a movie like this? I also have to say, since Roman posted this the other day, I'm REALLY down on this project. Just seems like the buzzards are circling overhead for X3. ...

Thanks for the info Mike. I'll pick this up at Deepdiscount's next 20% off sale. I'm not surprised Cimino talks about his career particularly -- has he done many DVD commentaries before? I know there wasn't one on HEAVEN'S GATE, that's for sure! About the last line of dialogue...I can't really recal...

Since I started covering the laserdisc/DVD scene back in the early '90s, I wish I came up with a list of special feature supplements that were planned for "___" LD/DVD but didn't materialize. Almost certainly from what you've said this was a legal obstacle that cropped up...one you might h...

Mike, Thanks for the tip. Warner catalog titles come out and fly under the radar many times because they don't publicize them to media outlets. YEAR is not a perfect movie but I remember seeing it (back on laserdisc about 10 years ago) and thought it was a very interesting film, one of Cimino's bett...

I just can't believe they're really making Basic Instinct 2 (?!) WTF is it even going to be about? The script has been around for eons, I remember when David Cronenberg (!) was attached and Bruce Greenwood was supposed to co-star...or wait, was that Benjamin Bratt? (He also left when they were gett...

This is also, likewise, bizarre. But it also sounds like a cost-cutting move...when was the last major movie Scott even scored? Musically, though, I'm all for it. We know what most composers would score for the film...is it possible, though, that Scott will reprise some of Goldsmith's themes and the...

Really?? That's....just.....bizarre! I'm with you Roman. I actually think Brett Ratner is a pretty uninspired choice -- he's no visionary filmmaker, he's just a "known commodity." I've never really been a fan of his: the RUSH HOUR films don't interest me, and RED DRAGON was one of ...

All religion is. aaah, take it easy there John. I respect all cultures and beliefs and I've met plenty of people (and made friends) across all religious spectrums -- Judism, Islam and Christianity -- who are anything BUT foolish. I'd bet there may even be a scientologist somewhere who isn't complet...
