I also noticed the running time is 117 minutes, making this the shortest Steven Spielberg film since INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM!

Another WAR OF THE WORLDS Mystery

Roman would know more about this -- http://channels.netscape.com/ns/news/story.jsp?id=2005062303020002605482&dt=20050623030200&w=RTR&coview= They're stopping the German press from reviewing the film until the day of its release. What's curious is that I don't know if they're doing that d...

With KONG.. I dont know... the story is so old fashioned and silly and to be honest, I dont see any love story in it. It is a truly scary horror movie with bloods and guts galore (which gets pretty tiresome after a while) and I think this is the only way to go with the remake. That a silly love sto...

I should add I'm with Roman on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. That's easily one of my favorite Zimmer Company scores. At least it has a central motif you can remember, and a good amount of energy to spare.

Footnote: A lot of people are telling me that the score actually fares a LOT better away from the movie. Something to consider... I would have to disagree with them there. The lack of a central theme kills the album as far as I'm conerned...and the absence of an ending -- including the end credits ...

Torrance, There IS a TRUMAN SHOW SE coming out in the next few weeks from Paramount! I believe a documentary is on there and one deleted scene as memory serves, but I may be wrong. I don't think we'll ever see the Dennis Hopper footage though -- didn't he play the Ed Harris role before he was replac...

ANDY, while on the subject of Gilliam -- do you know if Universal is planning to reissue it's movie-only DVD of BRAZIL? I went to order it online this weekend and it looks like it's now out-of-print. This usually indicates a new edition in the works (a trend Universal has been following lately -- w...

That KONG has been in the works forever...I hope they get the deleted extracts (presuming they still exist) out there. I'd also love to see a Special Edition of JAWS 2, one of my all-time personal favorites (I'd call it a guilty pleasure but it actually isn't that bad of a film!). The currently avai...

CGI may add much to the FX of KONG, but remember the expression on Kong's face -- the artistry of Willis O'Brien and the other effects artists of the '33 classic -- is something that simple technology alone can't recapture. You're right, Michael, about the age of viewers and their memories of older ...

In fairness to the studios, he doesn't seem to be easiest guy to work with. (Just watch "The Hamster Factor" documentary on the 12 MONKEYS DVD -- at times, he seems like a complete loon!) You guys should -- if you haven't already -- check out LOST IN LA MANCHA...one of the most entertaini...

Hi Torrance: I agree to disagree with you on the film, but I do agree with you wholeheartedly on THE PHANTOM (plus you have Kristy Swanson & Catherine Zeta-Jones together, back before anyone knew who she was!)...a box-office flop that was deserving of better. Not as strong as THE ROCKETEER, mind...

Hmmm..., should I see it again? Harry I'm with you. I was really mixed on it but it had some really good elements...though after having watched it, I am not at all surprised that it's not faring well financially. The numbers just came out and it took in $46 mil at the US box-office -- which given t...

KING KONG Trailer 6/27

And no you're not going to have to work hard to see it: NBC Universal will be showing on every channel they own -- from NBC to MSNBC to USA to Sci-Fi Channel and even their HD channel -- on Mon 6/27 at exactly (drum roll) 8:59pm. We can debate the merits of producing this remake -- and I'm guessing ...

Several of those trailers spots look a bit too much like ID4 for my comfort... Two other things that also concern me about this film: 1. Spielberg's talk about the 9-11 influence on the movie. Sorry but what does a film about extraterrestrials and Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning running from being ex...
