Hey Andy- any info on the specs of the NEMESIS 2 disc collectors set? Commentary? Director's cut? Or is it the same as the one disc set with a couple of uneventful extras?

Samurai Films from Criterion

I looked at Criterion's home page and saw a slew of Samurai films from the 60s due out in October, including SWORD OF THE BEAST and SAMURAI REBELLION (with Toshiro Mifune)- does anybody else like this stuff? I'm extremely pumped about this collection! I heard rumors that Criterion will be releasing ...

SUPERMAN III is a movie with a bad rep but it really is pretty entertaining if you meet it on its own terms. Even Ken Thorne's score has some nice moments -- plus you have that great Supes Vs. Clark angle, Annette O'Toole (I enjoyed the romance between her and Reeve), and a couple of funny set piec...

$31 would be a big time rip off. They wer wise to slash that price down. Yeah, that's only the "Suggested Retail Price." Every DVD that comes out has a high price tag -- they're never intended to be sold at that point (unless it's somewhere that doesn't sell DVDs, like a supermarket or so...

As to SOLARIS, did that even have a theme? "Lets temp it with SOLARIS!" Just who the hell came up that idea? I would ahve loved to have been in the room when everyone said "Yeah - that sounds great!" Sheeeesh! Scorehead Agreed! :) The Clooney version was just awful. I liked the ...

Re: WESTWORLD Remake Back on Track -- with a Director!

Though I felt portions of THE CELL were excessive, it certainly was one of the most striking visual films I've seen in years. I'd be interested in seeing him handle a film like WESTWORLD and develop it beyond its rather one dimensional original. I would agree with that. THE CELL was visually striki...

I forgot about THE FLY (one of Cronenberg's best)......and even though it didn't fall into my 20 year range, JC's THE THING is a Halloween tradition at my house- I watch it every year (along with some other horror film that guy made about Halloween)..... :) I never cared for THE FOG- good idea, bad ...

I think these filmmakers/writers/studios are pandering too much to the younger generation and trying to remake stuff that teens and young adults nowadays can find significance in...in general. Why in the world would a studio remake THE OMEN and cast young people in it if not to try and include some ...

I fthat's the case, and if there aren't ever going to be deleted scenes, then the first two might be fun to get for the commentaries alone. I'll pass on the other two. I confess I found BATMAN & ROBIN kind of fun -- at least it's more outrageous than "Forever," which you'd have to pay...

WOTW looked like someone spit on the lens -- I kept wanting to use some Windex and clean off the screen! :) That said, as far as INDY 4 goes, for me it ought to be what the old movies were: a COLLABORATION between Lucas and Spielberg. Apparently Spielberg helped out with some of EPISODE III, LOL- I...
