But it was such a horrible scene -- badly edited, badly shot. It was too quick in coming and had no build up at all. Even my wife turned to me and said, "what was the point of that?", because she recalled it wasn't in the first one. Just felt too obvious and was poorly integrated into the story.Hey, at least that was an actual new scene, which this film desperately needed more of.
I do agree that the movie would have been MUCH better had it not slavishly reworked the original. Why not re-write it and take the concept, changing it so that there's something fresh? I didn't really like THE FOG remake but at least they tried to change up the premise there.
The film has all but died at the box-office following a big opening day. I would hope if they do make sequels (probably "iffy" at this point and dependant on international box-office & DVD sales) they don't adhere to DAMIEN OMEN 2 so much!

EDIT: The production budget claims $25 mil, so if that's correct and their marketing isn't insane, I'm guessing there may be follow-ups to come.
