The first trailer for Matt Damon’s “Jason Bourne” debuted during Super Bowl 50, giving fans a look at the upcoming thriller.
The sequel sees Damon and director Paul Greengrass (who helmed “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum”) re-teaming to bring the famous spy out of retirement. It’s been nine years since Bourne appeared on the big screen — the upcoming installment marks the fifth film in the franchise.
“I know who I am,” says Damon in the clip. “I remember everything.”
The series started in 2002, with “The Bourne Identity.” The last movie in the series came in 2012 with “The Bourne Legacy.” However, neither Bourne nor Damon appeared in that film. Jeremy Renner starred as Black ops agent Aaron Cross.
Julia Stiles is set to return to the series, reprising her role as Nicky Parsons. “Ex Machina” and “The Danish Girl” actress Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones and Vincent Cassel will make their debuts in the franchise.
Frank Marshall is producing “Jason Bourne” alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith also produce, with Christopher Rouse and Henry Morrison serving as exec producers.
The trailer also marks the reveal of the movie’s official title, which had been kept secret ahead of the Big Game. “Jason Bourne” will hit theaters on July 29.

The first Bourne film was outstanding IMO - I thoroughly enjoyed that one. The next two with Damon were okay but not as memorable as the first one. The Jeremy Renner film was okay...but forgettable. I will go and see this one when it comes out.

Easily the worst one of the lot for me, though I didn't think it was terrible.Hell, the Renner one was the only entry in the series I kinda-sorta liked.
The first one is not only excellent IMO, but it set a modern standard for spy-adventure films -- the Craig Bond movies in particular owe a debt to Bourne in terms of visuals and tone.
While the 2nd film is decent if too much of a re-run, the 3rd one was quite good. Judging from the look of this it looks like Greengrass has dialed back the shaky cam (which he did in the 3rd one anyway).
Yeah, you said it. Though after THE MARTIAN and this (which is sure to be a hit), he'll probably be able to pick and choose for a while.DAMON: I'm through with Jason Bourne!

Re: JASON BOURNE - July 29 - Trailer
While the seizure-cam editing of the Greengrass sequels was the main reason I found them intolerable, I wasn't even a fan of the first Jason Bourne movie...it wallowed in rote espionage clichés (how many fricking spy movies are there about the former badass assassin suffering from convenient amnesia?), the Big Car Chase felt like reheated Ronin, and overall I found it kind of tirred and lethargic. Damon sold the action beats just fine, and he's such an inherently likable actor he kept the film somewhat watchable, but I never thought much of it when it first came out, and trust me, I wanted to like it. At least the Renner one was competently filmed, which is that main reason I liked it more than the rest (plus, I can buy Renner killing people as a career choice more readily than Damon). I don't love the Renner one, but it's an improvement on what came before, "beloved trilogy" that I can't understand the wild enthusiasm for.

Don't know what to tell you. I don't replay them much, but I thought they were all pretty much terrific and made a bundle with near universal critical acclaim (at least all the ones you DIDN'T like). Just must be one of those things you don't connect with. ![Neutral :|](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

I only saw the first two films. I thought the first one was very good, but hated the second one.

Believe me, I don't like being the one guy in the room who doesn't get it...and I watched all three, despite not liking the first one that much, hoping for them to finally "click".AndyDursin wrote:Just must be one of those things you don't connect with.
