Yup... she definitely was a big reason for that.
As much as 80s Elisabeth is a mad-crush cornerstone for guys of a certain age, I sometimes think the absolute peak of her beauty came in the mid-to-late 90s. Both The Saint and especially Palmetto she looks drop-dead sexy in.
Love this show so much. The first half of Season 3 is like it was written by someone else, but it's like the lights went on for Episode 5 and continue through the rest of the year...kinda odd, but just when I was about to give up, we get the pay off that was a long while in coming.

ELISABETH SHUE - COBRA KAI EDITION!!
Love this show so much. The first half of Season 3 is like it was written by someone else, but it's like the lights went on for Episode 5 and continue through the rest of the year...kinda odd, but just when I was about to give up, we get the pay off that was a long while in coming.
I don't share you guys' love of Elisabeth Shue, but I did really enjoy her in Cobra Kai. I agree with you about season 3...the first few episodes were lame, but it did get better.
As a teacher though, the fight in the school really bothered me. Where were the teachers? The administrators? The cops? They took far too long to get there.
I realize it's a karate fantasy, but it got a bit too violent for involving kids for my liking. The wife couldn't even watch it. Give me more Johnny and less mopy kids.
The fights in this show are definitely suspension-of-disbelief oriented, and the authority figures and teachers are written like clueless (or more often totally non-existent) '80s parental units in a John Hughes film. I have to think that's intentional, and is not meant to be "real." That said I found the wild brawl at the end of Season 2 to be utterly awesome in terms of entertainment!
I don't know what happened for the first half of Season 3 -- did they bring in new writers who they fired? As badly as it started, it recovered as quickly and suddenly had the same level of funny writing and character interplay as the first two seasons.
Still, no "reboot" of anything has been as effective as COBRA KAI. It's not a retread, the elements from the old movies are organic and written in intelligently, the characters are believably extended into the present day, and you don't even need to like the old Karate Kid films to enjoy it.
Beyond that, I love William Zabka on this show and how Johnny has evolved into an appealing character. His growth and relationship with the Manuel kid (who I like also) is really the heart of the series and it's like they lost it for the whole first half of Season 3 before suddenly realizing like, ok, we're out of this now. lol
Also, now that I've sidetracked the Elisabeth Shue thread, the score to Cobra Kai is amazing. One of the best TV scores of the past decade- it actually has themes! It has a nice 1980's feel to some of it, uses the original Karate Kid music in the right places, and is just really fun to listen to. It's great to get you pumped on the car ride to work
And now back to photos of Elisabeth Shue

LOL you can talk COBRA KAI, I've started threads and think I'm the only one here watching it.
There ARE people watching it -- it's the #1 streaming show in the country so it's probably the #1 series right now period I'd imagine -- and I agree, the score is great too! How they work in the KK music and references -- so smart that they don't feel shoehorned in -- is terrific.
The guys that wrote this series deserve a ridiculous amount of credit for concocting something "fun" that can appeal to the kids and the old fanboys alike.
Also they probably tried getting her before, many times,, but I'd imagine she didn't want to do it initially. Probably wanted to see how it turned out first.
