MATT HELM LOUNGE on Blu-Ray [UK]

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

Not exactly Our man Flint -- to say nothing of 007 -- but I still might pick this up (note Region B locked for those who still don't have a multi-region player):

I'd get banned from the FSM board for saying this, but I much-prefer Elmer Bernstein's score for The Silencers to either of Goldsmith's Flint scores!

Sample response from a certain poster if you posted that there:
"You are of course entitled to your opinion, but what strikes me is why anyone who truly loves film music on a film music board would ever draw a comparison like that. Perhaps it says something about YOU more than the music? Last I checked, isn't this a FILM MUSIC board -- hmmm?!?!

Why can't you support them equally? Jerry's music worked wonders in the Flint movies, and Elmer's music did in the Matt Helm film too! They are VERY different beasts, and there's room for BOTH!"

According to DVD Beaver, the UK release is Region Free.

Good. Not that it matters to me but sometimes we know the region coding isn't actually implemented. Most places list it as B

My least favorite of the Bond knockoffs. Martin's Helm is too much of a sleaze for my taste and his bedroom moment with Ann-Margret comes off as creepy because A-M in that era still projected more of her earlier "Bye Bye Birdie" quality and didn't yet have the gravitas that arrived only in the 70s.
