Am I missing something? I don't see this as much of an upgrade to the previous Universal release, except for a remastered US cut, which I've never been interested in.

Come on Sprocket, you get a reprint of my interview with Charlie deLauzirika for starters!! (Of course you can also see it for free here on my site too ;0)
Seriously there should be some really good new extras. I also sent James Flower, the producer, my copy of the TV version so they should be including at least the opening (spoken) narration from that too.
I mean for $35, if you're a fan, it should still be worth it despite the letdown over no new 4K transfer. It's not like one of these soundtrack labels charging the same price for a 2-CD set and only including new cues on one disc!
I'm still bummed we can't see Arrow's 4K transfer of the European cut -- we have Disney to thank for that!

Not too fond of extras, but I do like the movie.AndyDursin wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 8:38 pm Come on Sprocket, you get a reprint of my interview with Charlie deLauzirika for starters!! (Of course you can also see it for free here on my site too ;0)

I'm invested in extra features when they relate to film history and preservation, especially when it's a title like this with a lot of fascinating elements related to its production.
Charlie was Ridley Scott's home video producer for many years and was responsible for finding the Directors Cut and producing the Legend disc for Universal years back.
My interview with him ran in FSM and it covered how the film was restored, the different versions and how that release was put together.
Arrow will also be using it in their booklet.
I extracted my original article and interview here back when the Blu came out:

I assume you'll be paid for the use of your interview, yes?

Lol I don't even recall being paid when I wrote that article for FSM in the first place. But that's a whole other issue!
They did offer a free copy at least.

Exactly I'll settle for that and some credit in the booklet.

Love MKV format. The days of having to wait weeks to send, say, a disc through the mail to someone overseas is over!!

^^ What is it about Ridley Scott movies having spoken narration added to the TV airings? CBS did the same thing to Blade Runner!
They don't think anyone can read?

lol. I'd bet that's also not a name actor, but whoever was working down the hall that day at Universal who also had a speaking voice.

They are using the opening narration from my TV version I supplied to them.
Music featurette should've had our Paul MacLean in there, honestly. Schweiger gets hired to do ALL of this work!!
