RIP Meatloaf

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

Couldn't walk down the hall without hearing this freshman year of college....a classic.

Jim Steinman died less than a year ago also, who wrote most of his memorable songs.

RIP.

To this day I still have not heard BAT OUT OF HELL in its entirety. I didn't realize he released 12 albums in his career (three of them BAT OUT OF HELL related). I will always remember him fondly for his role in FIGHT CLUB.

I was into his 90s revival myself...Bat II plus Welcome to the Nieghborhood which also came out when I was in college.

These two songs from his follow up album to Bat II included a couple of solidly memorable Diane Warren power ballads written in the Steinman mold (along with Indiana Jones music video antics :) Patti Russo's vocal support certainly helps both of these (along with her involvement in the previous album)

A friend of my mom's had a relative who once met Meatloaf, but wasn't sure how to address him, so he just said "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Loaf!"

I also learned today that K.D. Lang refused to speak to Meatloaf -- because she was a vegan and was triggered by his moniker. (That's a true story.)

Sounds like something k.d. (lower case!) would do Paul!

Here's a really nice story --
