RIP William Hurt
Re: RIP William Hurt
RIP - really solid actor. His two best roles (IMO) were in The Accidental Tourist and Broadcast News. I was never a fan of The Big Chill, and to this day I don't think I have ever seen Body Heat. I saw Altered States a long time ago and don't really remember it.

A understated actor with some prime roles in the '80s and obviously BODY HEAT was one of his most compelling.
As the '80s closed, he kind of fell into an abyss, turned down JURASSIC PARK because it was too commercial -- only to run off to mediocre dreck like LOST IN SPACE and a throwaway role as General Ross in the Hulk movies before kind of disappearing, as too many actors (and directors) of his generation regrettably have.

Re: RIP William Hurt
Hurt was brilliant in Altered States, which was a wildly "out there" kind of movie, but between Paddy Chayefsky's cracking dialog -- and Ken Russell's willingness to let the actors do their thing -- it resulted in one Hurt's best performances...

Re: RIP William Hurt
One wonders what the ALLMAN BROTHERS movie that he was shooting before it was shut down would have been like. I guess we'll never know.
Indeed,
