Potential ZAZ 4K set incoming

#1 Post by Monterey Jack »

It looks like it will include Airplane!, Top Secret! and The Naked Gun! :D

I just hope they fix the borked audio for Top Secret!, as the 5.1 remix on the Blu sounded awful. :?

That transfer wasn't anything special either as it was clearly an old master. An actual 4K remaster of the movie would be welcome and the chance to do a better transfer of the sound would be great because that mix sucked on the Blu-Ray like you said.

Paramount has a 4K remaster of AIRPLANE II out there -- I'd like to have that on there even though they had nothing to do with it. I mean, it's better than THE NAKED GUN 33 1/3, and they've done 4K remasters of that entire series too (though only the 1st one has been released on disc).

It’d make sense to release all three Naked Gun movies in this set, what with the Liam Neeson reboot(!) coming out next year.

Pretty great deal, especially as I haven't picked up the standalone Naked Gun 4K disc yet. :)

I thought we were done with these horrible cardboard box foldouts but this packaging sucks! Plastic spindle stackers glued onto flimsy cardboard...a blast from 10 years ago. Sheesh this won't hold up over time. Not surprised some people had damage on theirs.

Anyway the transfers are good. The Top Secret sound is terrific and has clear dialogue and better channel separation than I recall from that marginal BD we had before.

Yeah, can't say I'm happy with it (plus, my Naked Gun 4K disc was a floater). Mine came through with no noticeable damage, but I'm gonna see if anyone on the BR.com forums can whip up some custom art for these.

Yep, happy that Top Secret! has a listenable audio track again (even if I wish Paramount had included the original stereo mix). Movie's still a hilarious blast, as well...in many ways, it's even funnier than Airplane! (and Lucy Gutteridge...what a doll :D ).

Shame she had so few movie credits, although she was pretty active in television until the early 90s.

Set's down to only $28.99 on Amazon (and B&N), a fantastic deal.

Showed Top Secret! to a friend today, who was HOWLING at the first joke (the breakaway bridge) and didn't stop laughing throughout. :)

Amazon strikes again. With no email or warning, they cancelled my order at some point in the last two months on that $28 sale price. They had stated when I ordered that it was on backorder and would ship by 5/14, but alas, the order was just canceled. What a reliable disappointment.
Indeed,
Ed
