Not crazy about that lineup. At all.

Half of the set is B&W too. Annie? And To Sir With Love?? That's going to be a tough sell for many.

Eh, if it gets as cheap as volume 2 got, I can sell off the ones I don't want and the digital copies easily enough.

Just nothing I care about in that box. Annie is lousy. To Sir With Love, I watched the TT disc and didn't really care for it. From Here To Eternity and It Happened One Night aren't favorites of mine particularly. Ditto Last Picture Show which is an excellent film but wholly depressing and not a film I want to watch again. That leaves As Good as it Gets and that's not a movie I care about either.

Surprised by Sony, they did an excellent job mixing titles and genres on the first two sets but this one isn't going to have nearly the same appeal for most buffs.

All of these would be blind buys aside from As Good As It Gets (and I recently got the Aussie Imprint version for cheap from DD). If I could get the set for around $90 or so, I'd give it a shot (and there are a lot less hotly-anticipated films in this set). Funny that that didn't swap Tootsie for Annie.

This set would have to hit $60 for me to buy it. Ironically Annie may have been a big disappointment (it made money but was a lousy adaptation of a beloved musical) but its inclusion is probably a bigger commercial draw in this box than most of the other films...I'm just surprised they put in all these pre-mid 70s films in one set. Plus 3 B&W movies that, let's be honest, aren't the best way to show off the benefits of 4K and would probably struggle to sell copies on their own at this point in time. (To Sir With Love also isnt ever a movie whose cinematography would "benefit" really from 4K)

Had they thrown in one wacky/cult title like Krull or something like Silverado, it would've made more sense. But this grouping as it's comprised is going to struggle to sell units, I am certain of that.

That's true! I mean if this last set got down to, what, $80 then I could see this one doing better on a sales price. Unless they arent going to be pressing as many copies.

It's not that they are "poor" I just don't think it's a good group to sell a pricey box set like this. Nobody is breaking down the door for 40s and 50s movies in 4K or To Sir With Love or even Last Picture Show. The only two that will probably drive someone to buy this would be As Good... and probably Annie. Just not a varied assortment.
