I kind of like HARLEM NIGHTS- I'm not exactly sure why, but I laugh whenever I see it.

Eddie Murphy did make one turkey that I never finished watching. I rented VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN and took it home- I watched 20 minutes of it, rewound the tape, and took it back to the video store. I payed the dude his $1.00 as punishment for making such an awful rental decision. I had not done something like that before and have not done something like that since- that movie was terrible IMO.

Oh lord, I'd TOTALLY forgotten about that one. Another all-time bomb!

Anyone remember BEST DEFENSE?

:? I still have fond memories of that Eddie Murphy/Dudley Moore turkey BEST DEFENSE-and the two never appear together. Boy, Moore just had one bomberoo after another after ARTHUR, and I remember the reviews on this thing tore it to pieces..

For me, the moment I knew Murphy's career was about to start circling the bowl was a moment in THE GOLDEN CHILD (great trailer/lousy movie) when Murphy, who is posting flyers about missing children-I think that's what was doing-stops next to a newsstand where he sees a guy looking through the whacking material. The guy is looking at a 'zine entitled "Chunky Asses," and Murphy just keeps looking at him until he puts the rag back. Murphy looks at the guy as he walks away, looks back at the mag, looks towards the guy and says "chunky asses?" The look in Murphy's eyes is pure, unaldalterated fear. It is a look that says "I can't come up with a funny gag for this! Help!!" I have never forgotten that shot, although I've managed to forget the rest-thank God.

I almost saw Best Defence when it first came-out, but while I was in line at the theatre with my friend, I coaxed him into seeing Ghostbusters instead!
