Unless the JJ Cut takes into account THE LAST JEDI and develops the story from there, it doesn't matter. And even if it did, it doesn't matter. Lol...

I've listened to the CD a couple more times.

I have to say I love "The Rise of Skywalker" theme (which I think is one of John Williams' most gorgeous in years), but going back over it again, it's clear Williams was given no opportunities to write "broadly" in the dramatic cues -- which constantly shift in tone and never get to develop into anything listenable.

I have mixed feelings about all of these new Star Wars scores in general. I am grateful that John Williams is still with us, and still making music (and epic music). But were these new Star Wars films really the best use of his talent and time? These movies had no unifying vision, they were aimed at ADD kids, and thus had no extended moments of introspection or reflection. This is why these new scores contained nothing like "Binary Sunset", "Yoda and the Force", "The Asteroid Field", "Brother and Sister" or "He is the Chosen One".

Again I'd prefer Williams had scored the Fantastic Beasts films Instead. Though I didn't really like those movies either, we could have used more "Potter universe" music from John Williams. The glorified fan fiction (which is all these new Star Wars movies really were) was a waste of his talent.

On a side note, Disney Plus have moved up the date.

Interesting 11-minute piece on Williams' score for the film...
