Winstone Joins Ford In Indy 4

British actor Ray Winstone is joining the cast of the fourth Indiana Jones movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Winstone, who stars as the title character in Robert Zemeckis' upcoming Beowulf, has signed on for a major role in the untitled film being referred to as Indy 4.

Although the film's plot is being closely guarded, sources told the trade paper that Winstone will play star Harrison Ford's sidekick.

Cate Blanchett already has boarded the project, to be produced by Lucasfilm and directed by Steven Spielberg, in an undisclosed starring role.

David Koepp wrote the screenplay for Indy 4, which is scheduled to begin filming in June in Los Angeles and at top-secret locations around the world.

Paramount Pictures will release the film worldwide on May 22, 2008. Frank Marshall is producing, with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy executive-producing.

Los Angeles???

What happened to the tradition of shooting Indiana Jones in England, with British crews?

This probably won't make me very popular in the "City of Angels" but one of the things which gave the Indiana Jones films much of their class and style was the fact their production was based in England. And you just can't get that same quality by shooting in LA.

Maybe Steven doesn't want to stray too far from home.

But if you ask me, Kubrick had the right idea.

I guess John Rhys Davies never should have lost all that weight...

But this just mnakes this sound even worse than before. An already pointless exercise in topping up George/Harrison's pension fun now makes that new Mummy film with Jet Li look like a better bet. And will Ray Winstone once again show his great range? "Oy, Indy, you ****in' muppet, stop ****in' around with that ****in' whip, you stupid **** and gi'us an 'and with this ****in' sarcophagus before I gives meself an 'ernia, you useless wanker."

Yes he was. For me, he will always be remembered as Will Scarlet in Robin of Sherwood.
