Witness Question

Andy, you've reviewed the new Witness DVD. Did Paramount fix the soundtrack? The previous release was missing a section of dialogue. After Harrison Ford gets shot and the blood is hitting the plastic bag of his dry cleaning, there should be a voice over of Schaeffer asking "Who else knows about this?" and then Ford's reply, "Just you and I." This is a key moment in the film (it reveals that Paul is the villain) and it was absent on the first DVD. I won't be buying the new one unless this is fixed. If you could let me know, that'd be great. Thanks!

hi Neil,
Welcome back!

Yes that dialogue IS restored. I believe you meant the scene prior to Ford being shot with his dry cleaning...but I just double-checked and that part of the conversation is in the new DVD.

cheers,
Andy

That dialogue should be in the film twice. Once when he's having the conversation with Paul and again after the shoot out.

No it's not. I take it it's the same dialogue exchange from before -- just re-looped for dramatic effect? Perhaps Weir had it removed intentionally. You can kind of figure that Schaeffer's in on it -- hearing the line again, it explicitly spells it out (perhaps making it more heavy-handed?).

Sorry to bump a really old thread, but I had an opportunity to talk to Mr. Weir about this last night. He wasn't aware the lines were missing. Maybe at some point we'll get a correct edition.
