The BBC have posted a press release of the the sales success in Canada. Anyway, there's also news about a Canadian season one set scheduled for February 14, 2006.
Looks like no US broadcaster is interested in the show.
There's also news about about a Who spin-off, using the Captain Jack character. But that one will be late night, because the subject matter. Bet BBC America will buy that, as they seem to be going down that road.

I'm surprised no outlet has picked up the show for the US. It's quite puzzling. The only thing I can think of is that the BBC wants a load of cash or else will save it for BBC America. Who knows at this point...but I would think a Canadian DVD also means a North American DVD in general.

The way BBC America is at the moment, I really can't see them buying Doctor Who. Of late, they have been screening 'quality' shows like Footballer's Wives, and soon screen Mile High and Viva Blackpool (known as Blackpool in the U.K.)
As for the DVDs, it's my understanding that the U.S. releases will not happen until the show has been screened here.
