I had long thought that one of the few old Laser Disc sets I was going to hold on to forever was the "Ultimate Oz" set of the mid-90s because the first DVD release by Warners was unbelievably botched with a weak transfer and fewer supplements. They also botched the "Jitterbug" supplement by wrongly using the demo rehearsal track (in which the flat monotone of Donna Massin stands in for Judy Garland and Bert Lahr reads his lines in a bored manner) instead of the final finished version cut from the film.
But after getting the big deluxe set from Warners, "Ultimate Oz" is now history with me. They have not only fixed the botched supplement, they've included EVERYTHING from the original Ultimate Oz, and most impressively they've ported over the four and a half hours of audio supplements and made them more convenient to access than they ever were on the LD set. All one has to do is keep the liner notes on the audio tracks from the LD set and one is sets.
This is a must-own and I'm glad that on the third DVD release, this film was finally done right.
