I guess it's safe to say the ship set sail for Sharon Stone many, many years ago. How much did this thing cost the multitude of international companies who put up the cash?? We're talking SON OF THE PINK PANTHER numbers -- from 1993!! :) SLITHER, the new horror movie from the "Dawn of the Dead" remake folks, also tanked du jour...can't imagine why with such a terrific ad campaign Universal put together!

1 N Ice Age: The Meltdown Fox $70,500,000
2 1 Inside Man Uni. $15,692,000
3 N ATL WB $12,545,000
4 4 Failure to Launch Par. $6,618,000
5 2 V for Vendetta WB $6,465,000
6 3 Stay Alive BV $4,575,000
7 6 She's the Man DW $4,571,000
8 N Slither Uni. $3,676,000
9 5 The Shaggy Dog BV $3,535,000
10 N Basic Instinct 2 Sony $3,200,000

To put Sharon's knickers-in-a-twist disaster into perspective, Thank You For Smoking made 50% of BI2's total at only 126 screens. The rumour was that BI2 was only made because it was cheaper to make the film than to settle the lawsuit with Stone - though they might have changed their minds now! :P

I thought so, too, that they only did it to get at least some money out of it... but such a little b.o. is beyond any expectations, isn't it? WEll, I still think all the horny bros out there will get the dvd like crazy...

wasn't showgirls a huge hit on DVD after the abysmal BO?

still, there have been far worse movies out there, so it is not really deserving this desaster. But Stone had never had any hit since BI 1, so no wonder it bombed. Maybe with Demi Moore it would have bombed even more... lol

am really disappointed though with SLITHER, it has great reviews, the trailer shave been fantastic and everything else makes the impression of a great movie... so why did nobody bother???maybe because all the latest horrorflicks were pretty bad? I hope it picks up next week, but looks dark...

the score sounds fantastic, you can listen to it on Tyler bates site...

I liked Tyler Bates's score for the under-rated GET CARTER remake (deftly working in the old Roy Budd score), so I'll check it out. As far as SLITHER goes the trailers were absolutely horrible (oh look, a woman blowing up! leeches in the bath tub!), they didn't even bother to show that the lovely Elizabeth Banks was in it...it looked like a really bad Dimension "dumping grounds" release!

I liked them!!! the poster campaign is hilarious, too, but maybe we got others over here in Europe, so I dunno... the German trailer for DA VINCI CODE for example is horrible, whereas I liked the Us trailer quite a bit, but will still not watch it as anavid ron-howard-hater (and the story doesnt interest me at all)
