apparently FANTASTIC FOUR is a littel different in the UK... differnet FX, different scenes and cuts... seems the only alternate version out there, as all European and Asian versions are the same as the US cut...

the site is only in German, but they have soem pics...

it's said to be the a little bit better version, but not that different that it would be worth buying it if you already own the US-cut...

Probably an alternate version they'll release here, next year, in time for FANTASTIC FOUR 2.

Speaking of which, I'm just happy Jessica Alba is apparently going to be wearing a wig the next time around...she shouldn't be a blonde to begin with and it ruined her hair the last time!

still, I saw many different scenes and effects when I attended the sessions... though I think the ending was the one in the UK version... Im not sure about it anymore.

the music cuts in the US-version are horrible.. wonder whether they are maybe better in the UK version...

Well, I saw the UK theatrical cut, so if anyone could list in English what the differences are supposed to be I could see if any ring a bell.

I can only think of two reasons for a different UK cut - either the overseas dupe neg was prepared before the US neg was locked, or alternative takes were used for censorship reasons. Fox have redubbed animated features with local voice talent, but this is the first I've hearsd of them using a different negative.

well, just look at the screenshots.. there you can see the different effects.

Also the used for the romance scenes between alba and guffroy (?) different scenes, some more serious others more silly (like he stretches himself a bit at the end or something).

When they shoot DOOM with the water in the showdown, Mr. Fantastic stretches himself to make the water shoot in another direction...

stuff like that.

I guess you are right about the unlocked negative.. still, quite strange hat something like this happens... as you don't have to dub anything for the British market.. would make more sense for foreign language countries as they maybe need a cut earlier for the dubbing...

also there are some lines more in the UK cut from DOOM and some others... but none of them are offensive or whatever.

the overall runtime is not much different in the end.

it seems like this was one of the movies tehy re-cut up till the last minute. They were still shooting many scenes when the rec sessions were finished, which was 5 weeks before the release!
