Universal, AMC Agree to 17 DAY "Theatrical Window" on New Releases

While touted as a big achievement for AMC, this to me signals another nail in the coffin for theaters. Universal and most studios have a 75-day time frame between theatrical opening and on-demand/home video premieres.

Now it's 17 days for new Universal movies before the studio can start offering them at home.

Maybe they'll keep the movies in theaters for longer than 17 days IF they're doing well -- but man, this doesn't sound good AT ALL if you care about the big screen. RIP

I'm not quite as enamored of the theatrical experience -- but I have about ten cinema gift cards my brother gave me over the past several Christmases which I still haven't used!

It is a pain, I agree!
