I remember a blurb in the newspaper back in 1985 about how that film came and went from theaters in exactly one week because it bombed so bad. And then it was on HBO a lot in the next year or two which is when I saw it (never saw the first one). I don't remember being impressed.

It's the same as future Tarantino editor Sally Menke cutting the first
TMNT movie from 1990.

An editor usually works on all kinds of movies to keep steady work coming in. Typically they do not have the ability to be that selective. Still there's no shame in being associated with TMNT, movie was a huge hit so it's not like an embarrassment to have worked on it. I mean it's not like it starred Vanilla Ice lol
But often with cinematographers -- who are on set and a major part of the filmmaking process -- they get plucked from some low budget independent work or a movie that makes people notice...not a studio film like COOL AS ICE.
I'll never understand Spielberg's affection for Kaminski and his ugly, blown out lighting but whatever, we've had that convo. Lol. Must have been something in this picture he liked!!

The first one was so much better. Roger Moore turned down the sequel. It's often been said, Lewis Collins would have better in the film. Hot off the Professionals, he was even considered for James Bond, he met Cubby Broccoli. Sadly it didn’t work out as Collins admitted “he was too aggressive", which is funny, when you consider the one that's currently in the part.

HOT SPOT's transfer is better than Shout's disc. Sadly outside of JC and Virginia Madsen this movie is still no more entertaining than it was before.

It's all about the bikini shots, baby. Even Dennis understood that.

He definitely did. Unfortunately there's nothing arousing about the rest of it. Its so slow and tedious, it's not even on a low simmer. More like a pacemaker.

That said -- this is a marked improvement on the old HD master, and the sound is a lot livelier also.
Brief Zoom interviews with Virginia Madsen and William Sadler -- too bad that's all there is -- but it's better than nothing!
