Getting REALLY pissed off that Columbia won't release these seperately, to appease my collectors' OCD. :?

Still, a proper release of the theatrical cut of Stripes is great. :)

It's a bit puzzling they're waiting to do standalone releases on these. I don't like being forced to throw in for a whole set when I don't like one of the movies, though on balance, I actually prefer the 6 movies in this set over the first box.

It's like those "ten-movie collections" you often see from Warner Bros...yeah, it's a "deal" if you don't own each movie in the set compared to buying them indivudually, but what are the odds you'll like TEN RANDOM MOVIES from a studio? :? Plus, as someone who arranges their collection primarily by director, these drive me nuts, as I'd want a 4K Taxi Driver slotted next to my other Scorsese movies, for example. If these were all films by the same director, or a "franchise" collection with the original movie and all the sequels, that'd make sense, but the audiences for Taxi Driver, Stripes and Sense & Sensibility don't often cross over, y'know?

I'll wait for individual releases, or else commission someone to whip up some standalone custom covers.

One thing you could do -- though it's a lot of work -- is sell the movies you don't want piecemeal. Between that and the digital copies, you could probably make up a good chunk of change if this goes on sale around the $100 mark like the first volume did.

Yeah, but do the discs have their own individual cases, or are they part of some fold-out digipak? If the latter, I'd be forced to find custom art somewhere, and that adds more money to the price.

I can wait.

Huh! It might be worth picking up the boxes if I can get them for around $100, then, because I can probably get an additional $30 off of them by selling the digital copies.

Currently $110 on Deep Discount, so I put in for a pre order. Since I had about $60 in recent digital copy sales in my Paypal account, after taxes I only spent about $57 out of pocket. :D Anatomy Of A Murder and Oliver! are blind buys, but for this price, I can always sell them off and make a pretty penny if I don't like them, and once I shill the digital copies, I may actually make money on the deal.

This is a great package of STRIPES with original mono audio, both cuts, a terrific 40-minute Reitman/Murray "pandemic interview", even the TV version...complete with "Edited For Television" overlay! That was the first time I had seen the movie, since it was rated R and was the only way my parents would let me watch it.

I think this set will sell well just for its inclusion alone.

Sony does such a good job with these -- new supplements, new Blu-Rays to go along with the 4K transfer enhancements you expect. Volume 1 goes for $200-$300 ish, so a smart move to buy Volume 2 for any number of reasons!

Yeah, kicking myself in retrospect over passing on that.

I didn't buy it either, I assumed everything would be quickly released individually afterwards but that surprisingly hasn't been the case yet. Outside of Lawrence of Arabia there wasn't much in there I needed.

The PR firm that handled it got copies in last fall, months after the fact, so I was happy to eventually get it. For $100 ish they give you your money's worth.

Got my set today. Even though I'm splitting it up and distributing the individual movies in my "director" sections, I have to admit the packaging is beautiful. Sadly some noticeable scratches on the special features disc for The Social Network. :?
