This is the box-office marketplace now: SPIDER-MAN/Marvel fans show up and propel a movie, opening against no competition (keep in mind this is actually something nobody pays any attention to now in reporting these numbers) to what looks like an opening that's record breaking.

Meanwhile, the marketplace for "adult" movies? It's gone. Poof. Adios. WEST SIDE STORY is an official bomb (it was going to need $300 mil worldwide to break even apparently). The Del Toro movie has no audience. And IMO it's never coming back, because it was fading before COVID became a thing. Now it's just gone.

Saw Spiderman last night- it earned that huge box office. One of the best superhero movies I've seen- made me smile in a way at the movies I haven't since the Force Awakens (and I think this will hold up to time better). Funny, epic, sad. Recommended if you are a fan of Spiderman in any incarnation.
