Bryan Singer - Variety Expose

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

This went up a little while ago. You'll find out more about Singer than you'd ever want to find out -- if this is true...well, what a creep. Or worse.

Horrific. Reads like Behind the Candelabra, only far-worse.

And sadly, this kind of thing is not uncommon. We only hear about the incidents who get exposed. Many powerful people have the money to pay-off those they exploit, or the ability to hire the best lawyers who can get them exonerated.

Agreed. I was thinking after I read the article how many men and women in Hollywood must have experienced something similar to this, especially during Hollywood's "golden age". As Paul said, I imagine this is way more common than we think, as the vast majority of offenses never get exposed.

I won't deny I enjoyed Singer's X-Men movies. Yet at the same time I always felt that, on an emotional level, there was "something missing" from all his work (and not just because I read this exposé -- I've always felt that way). Even when trying to be heroic or romantic, his films are strangely dispassionate -- like they are the work of someone who doesn't "feel". Moreover they smack of someone with a very skewed perception of life, and normalcy.

The Usual Suspects is a cold and dispassionate movie. Superman Returns had a genuinely weird vibe (and I was not a fan of it).

Of course, Singer only "made it" because he had connections to the business -- Lori Singer and Marc Singer are his cousins. He'd never have even gotten his foot in the door based solely on "talent".

Singer is a dime a dozen, unfortunately. Hollywood, governments... all over the planet these sorts of lowlifes.
