Those Shaw films I take it aren't available individually? I have a DVD of "Mighty Peking Man" I'd be glad to upgrade but I'd have no interest in the other films. I guess though I'd have no choice.

Right, it's a limited edition box. I haven't read what their plans are for possible individual releases afterwards.

Much as I'd like to see this scene in Blu-Ray, I think I'd be better off waiting. :)

That movie is indeed nutty! It's possible that could be a title they release individually after this box sells out, if that's something they might do. Certainly one of the best known cult movies in this release in the US!

Minor observation...you keep referring to the "Beetles" in your A Hard Day's Night review.

BTW, the Shaw Brothers set is pretty amazing. (obnoxious sleeves aside :?) I've watched all but four movies so far, and I've enjoyed all of them. Mighty Peking Man is a hoot. For $90 (which is what I got it for using a Deep Discount coupon), it's one of the entertainment bargains of the year, a dozen movies plus two CDs and a lavish booklet.

Totally agree it's a fantastic set, and many of the movies are really great fun.
(obnoxious sleeves aside)
I get why you dislike some sleeves, but not these. In fact this is exactly the kind of "hardbound" sleeve packaging I applaud for box sets, just like Fox's ALIEN set. Nobody is damaging these discs.

And it's good to see others agreeing! :D

Finished the Shawscope set. I really enjoyed each movie included (Heroes Of The East is the only one I'd seen beforehand. I even reviewed the Dragon Dynasty DVD for a now-defunct website back in the day), and the two CDs of cheesy De Wolfe library cues is far more entertaining to listen to than 95% of the junk that passes for film music these days. :)
