The natural evolution of 20 years of Neeson action roles!
As much as McFarlane is hit and miss, this is one revival I would see if it was halfway decent, as he'd understand the pacing and tone of the Zucker movies.

Wait a minute I thought MJ wanted people to go back to theaters?? The world can't exist entirely of super hero movies.
I would take this over Neeson beating up people for real for the 300th time. Isn't there another one of those coming next month? It's as reliable as a new direct to video movie with Bruce Willis
As much as I disliked the terrible Scary Movie type film parodies, I also miss this type of big screen comedy, a genre that's an endangered species as it is.
Might have some laughs. Might not work either...but it's something different at least in terms of a revival, and MacFarlane knows how to rib assorted genres. Plus might be amusing to see Neeson make fun of himself, which most stars today have no interest in doing.
If it sucks I'll pass. But I appreciate the effort to revive something thats not the 20th Batman movie or whatever it is.

So, it's okay to revive
this moribund franchise, but not another?
The key difference between what ZAZ was doing in the 80s, and what McFarlane does today, is that McFarlane gives us nothing but specific REFERENCES to other media, whereas the ZAZ team needled general cinematic cliches that never really go out of style. Plus, you know this one will up the "bad taste" quotient with disgusting body function references and "edgy" rape/AIDS jokes (no, wait, he'll throw in an "I've got Corona!" joke).
Just give me
Top Secret! on Blu with a decent transfer and I'm good.

Neeson has poked fun at himself before, on one of Ricky Gervais' shows, I forget which, but it was funny. The Naked Gun 1 and 2 1/2 are some of the funniest films ever (better than Top Secret imho), and Neeson could pull it off. As long as it's better than some of the stuff Leslie Neilson was putting out towards the end, it can't be all bad. Ever see 2001: A Space Travesty? Good Lord!
As for Bruce Willis, I read a sad rumor about him the other day- that he has dementia, and can't remember any of his lines. That everything is piped to his earpiece, and he doesn't even know he's making a movie sometimes. That he doing as many as he can to get some cash for his kids when he's gone. Not sure how true that is. It would explain a lot of things.

I've read that, too.

It would seem to make perfect sense, though, as Willis has been at a low ebb of giving-a-crap for over a decade now. This would at least explain why he's cranking out these awful "Redbox thrillers" at such a prodigious pace, when you'd think he'd be wealthy enough not to need to make them. It'd be a sad coda to his career if true.

No way...it would be just as bad as Steve Martin doing Inspector Clouseau. No hesitation passing on this for me.

Oh god please, NO. It will not be as bad as that.
