Great, varied roster of roles. I got the impression he became ill (maybe I read it?) in the last few years, sounds like had a brain injury/cancer/etc. so that's a rough road to go down. His performances will be remembered among movie buffs across so many different types of films.

Never gave a bad performance. My favorite will always be his role as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff. In fact it may well be the best performance in the film.
