The big question: will they be able to avoid bringing up climate politics in this movie. My answer: no.

Well, come-on Andy. Tornadoes never occurred before the introduction of man-made fluorocarbons (nor did hurricanes, droughts, blizzards or rain delays).

What are they going to do now? Show a Donald Trump lookalike "controlling" an outbreak of tornadoes in a "racist conspiracy to destroy minority communities?"

"Twister" was a so-so braindead piece of summer entertainment that hardly lends itself to a sequel for goodness sake. Reading this, I'm not surprised it has to be a *daughter* who becomes the heroine. Sons as we all know, can't grow up to become anything noble.

The original was a dumb-fun F/X demo reel, but a sequel this many years later is gonna go down as well as that Independence Day sequel that absolutely no one remembers even existing. Expect a leathery Helen Hunt to be gazing lovingly at a framed portrait of Bill Paxton that's nothing but an obvious still from the original movie.

And yeah, they're totally gonna shove a gratuitous "climate change" message into this.

I mean, if Spielberg's team is behind it, it can't possibly be as bland as that Independence Day project -- either way expectations are low. It's also hugely surprising they took this long to sequelize one of the big hits of the '90s. (Unless Spielberg was the one resistant to it, which is entirely possible).

Considering how mercenary and joyless the Jurassic World movies were...

And they're sequelizing it now because 80s nostalgia has peaked, while 90s nostalgia is still cresting. It's the reason why we're getting Tim Burton's Wednesday, because the 90s Addams Family movies are as nostalgic to fortysomethings now as the original TV show was to boomers in the early 90s. Same thing with that D+ Hocus Pocus sequel.

The World movies are still better than that ID4 rehash (well, at least one of them lol). ID4-2 was as "anonymous" as they come...movie brewed in a lab by a team of computers, with money flowing in from China funding it. Also the creepiest "cameos" ever, like they shot Robert Loggia on his deathbed. Plus the last scene with Brent Spiner -- we're coming back for more!! Maybe not...

Does that mean in another 10 years Jack Bauer will get dusted off?

They already did it, and people have forgotten.

The director of the kinetic action classic Minari in talks to direct.

More proof that studios just pick any random indie filmmaker they can find for these franchise sequels, because they know they can keep them under their thumbs. :?

Oh, thank goodness. For a moment there, I thought you said "Minardi" which is a family-owned Italian baker from Paterson, NJ. Great long Italian hero bread, by the way.

Minari? Never heard of it.

Why don't they just save money and have AI helm these films at this point. Further evidence it doesn't make any difference who's directing this crap anymore.

Has this guy Chung ever made a big budget action movie?

It doesn't matter, the same way that it didn't matter that Colin Trevorrow's only movie prior to Jurassic World was Safety Not Guaranteed. :|
